What you will have an opportunity to do:
Maintenance Engineer | Marriott Colorado Springs
Behind every great guest experience is a property that works. The lights come on. The HVAC runs quietly. The door closes right. The tile is clean and intact. The pool is balanced and ready. None of that happens by accident, and none of it happens without the person who knows this building inside and out and takes genuine pride in keeping it that way.
We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, and motivated Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team at the Marriott Colorado Springs. If you are someone who brings a broad range of trade skills to the table, takes ownership of every work order you touch, and genuinely enjoys being the person who makes things work right, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you are one of the most essential members of the hotel operation. You keep the physical plant of this property running at the level our guests expect and our brand demands. Your work spans mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and preventive maintenance, and no two days will look exactly the same.
You will work closely with team members across every department in the hotel, from Housekeeping to the Front Desk to Food and Beverage, which means your attitude and your communication skills matter just as much as your technical ability. Guests will see you. Associates will rely on you. Leadership will count on you to get things done right the first time and to flag what needs attention before it becomes a bigger problem.
This is also a tremendous opportunity for a skilled trades professional to grow within a world-class hospitality environment. We value people who bring expertise, take initiative, and want to be part of a team that takes pride in the property they maintain. If that is you, this role has real runway.
Weekend and holiday availability is required. Hotel maintenance does not follow a traditional Monday through Friday schedule, and the right candidate understands and embraces that.
What You’ll Be Doing
Performing general maintenance and repair of building and facility mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the property
Performing general electrical repairs including work on appliances, house wiring, air conditioning systems, switches, fixtures, and motors
Making repairs to plumbing fixtures, piping, drains, and sanitary systems
Performing HVAC maintenance and repairs to ensure guest rooms and public spaces remain comfortable and properly conditioned at all times
Making repairs to woodwork, wall vinyl, drywall, doors and windows, carpeting, tile, and other interior finishes to maintain the appearance and integrity of the property
Performing painting and wall repair throughout the property as needed to maintain brand and property appearance standards
Performing general mechanical maintenance on pumps, compressors, water heaters, automotive equipment, and other miscellaneous equipment
Executing and supporting the hotel's preventive maintenance program, completing scheduled PM tasks on guest rooms, public areas, and building systems on time and to standard
Responding promptly to work orders submitted by housekeeping, front desk, and other departments, prioritizing room readiness and guest-impacting issues
Keeping accurate records of completed tasks, maintaining logs, and preparing and submitting all required reports in a timely manner as requested by your supervisor
Identifying maintenance issues that fall outside your scope and escalating them appropriately to ensure they are addressed without delay
Communicating clearly and professionally with team members across all departments when entering guest rooms or working in public areas
Engaging with guests you encounter in a warm, professional, and helpful manner; your presence in the hotel is part of the guest experience
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the engineering shop and throughout the property
Following all safety procedures including proper use of personal protective equipment, lockout/tagout protocols, and chemical handling standards
Supporting emergency maintenance needs as they arise, including participation in an on-call rotation as required
What We’re Looking For
Demonstrated experience in a maintenance role at a hotel, resort, or comparable facility is strongly preferred
Broad working knowledge of trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, and general mechanical repair
A strong attention to detail; you do not finish a job until it is actually done right
An engaging, professional, and welcoming personality; you work throughout the hotel and your interactions with guests and team members reflect on the property
The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and prioritize competing needs without losing focus or composure
A genuine passion for delivering an exceptional experience for all guests through the quality and reliability of your work
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to document work accurately and communicate issues clearly to leadership
A self-directed work ethic; you manage your time well, follow through on every work order, and do not need to be reminded to close out what you started
Flexible availability to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the operation
What are we looking for?
Qualifications
Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or commercial facility maintenance role is strongly preferred
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance and repair
Ability to read and interpret work orders, maintenance logs, and basic technical documentation
Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and the discipline to execute them consistently
Strong record-keeping skills and the ability to submit accurate logs and reports in a timely manner
Ability to operate standard maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively
Knowledge of and commitment to safety standards including PPE use, lockout/tagout procedures, and chemical handling protocols
Ability to stand, walk, reach, crouch, bend, push, and pull throughout the full duration of a shift
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed
Comfortable climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and navigating all areas of the property including rooftop and mechanical room access as required
Flexible availability to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
A valid driver's license is a plus
Any relevant trade certifications, EPA 608 certification, or other licenses are a significant advantage
Physical Requirements
This is a highly active, physical role for the full duration of every shift. You should be comfortable standing, walking, crouching, bending, reaching, and climbing throughout the property. This role also requires the ability to push and pull equipment and lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. You will be working in varied environments including mechanical rooms, rooftops, guest rooms, and outdoor areas, so physical comfort across a wide range of conditions is essential.
Who Thrives Here
The Maintenance Engineers who truly excel in this role are the ones who take personal ownership of this building. They do not walk past something that needs attention. They finish every work order completely and they document it properly. They communicate with the Front Desk before a guest has to call. They catch the issue during the PM that could have become a much bigger problem by the weekend. They treat every guest room they enter with professionalism and care, and they treat every associate they work alongside with the same respect they want in return.
They also understand that they represent this property in a very visible way. A Maintenance Engineer who is skilled, communicative, and genuinely warm with guests and team members is someone who makes the entire operation better. If that is how you work, you are going to be a valued part of this team.
