Operate heavy equipment and trucks to perform road maintenance, including grading, hauling gravel, and snow removal. Perform manual labor tasks such as patching potholes, installing signs, and trimming brush.
Must possess a Class A CDL license and have experience with heavy construction and road maintenance. Candidates must be able to safely operate various heavy machinery and work effectively with the public and colleagues.
Summary:
Will operate most types of heavy equipment used for road maintenance, drive trucks (including Belly Dumps and End Dumps) to deliver and spread gravel, watering roads or removing snow. Hand work that includes patching potholes, trimming trees, installing signs and traffic control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Grade County roads, haul gravel, install signs, traffic control, trim trees and brush, and perform snow removal in the winter months. Other duties not mentioned may be assigned.
Competency:
Must be punctual and take direction from supervisor. Must have experience with the basic operations of older as well as newer equipment. Position requirements include the basic skills to safely operate heavy equipment, belly dumps, dump trucks and snow plows. Must be able to work with the general public as well as with fellow County employees.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to the satisfaction of the district supervisor. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Experience with heavy construction work and road maintenance.
Language Ability: English
Math Ability: Basic
