This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of the New Glenn SEIT system safety, reliability and risk team, you will work to develop processes and products for the design and evaluation of the New Glenn orbital launch vehicle system and facilities. You must have a passion for mission assurance, a commitment to the fundamentals of system safety, and a strong capacity to work collaboratively on complex and interesting new problems. You will lead risk management projects to coordinate design teams, propose risk mitigation efforts, and support integrated solutions. You will utilize system engineering practices across disciplines predicated to a high degree on your technical skills, ensure consistent system engineering implementations across the New Glenn elements and subsystems, and serve in a system integration capacity working with multi-discipline teams to arrive at technical system solutions. Additionally, this role requires understanding and supporting requirements analysis and traceability, functional analysis, systems analysis, safety analysis, technical performance monitoring, developing strategies and approaches for specialty engineering (operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability) and system product life cycle processes. You will support the alignment and consistent implementation of New Glenn system engineering practices for system to lower-level program tiers as well as across program systems. You will also help develop health metrics to support insight into program health and tracking to major milestones.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Evaluate and perform reviews of system risks suggesting technical solutions to complex problems.
• Evaluate products and requirements for compliance with our system safety processes and products against internal and external standards including Range Safety, NASA, FAA, MIL-STD-882, or ARP-4761.
• Implement and maintain risk and safety processes and identify continuous improvement opportunities
• Train and coach engineers on identifying and analyzing system risks
• Work with systems engineering and subsystem cognizant engineers to identify and verify compliance with system safety requirements.
• Assist in generating metrics and report on program system status
• Participate in actively maintaining a healthy system safety culture

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace/electrical/mechanical engineering or related field
• 5+ years engineering experience in the aerospace industry
• Strong system safety, Risk, and mission assurance fundamentals
• Experience interpreting and assessing compliance to regulatory requirements and guidance.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years risk management experience
• Familiarity with system safety or reliability engineering experience performing FHAs, PSSAs, FMEA/FMECAs, FTAs, & CCAs
• Experience performing compliance assessments and tailoring of FAA and Range Safety launch system requirements
• Experience with a variety of complex aerospace or launch vehicle systems
• Process ownership and maintenance experience

Base Pay Range for:

CO applicants is $90,934.00 - $127,307.25
WA applicants is $99,201.00 - $138,880.35

• Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
