Why This Role Matters
The Washington Post is seeking a Strategic Client Partner to help accelerate growth across its global content licensing business. This role is responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships across assigned geographies and verticals, identifying new revenue opportunities, expanding enterprise relationships, and supporting the continued evolution of The Washington Post’s licensing strategy.
The desired candidate will play a key role in driving AI/data licensing partnerships, enterprise platform relationships, and multimedia licensing opportunities. You thrive in consultative enterprise sales environments with long-term relationship development.
You are energized by business development and emerging media technology ecosystems.
You enjoy developing creative commercial solutions that align client needs with business objectives.
You are collaborative, proactive, and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.
How You'll Support the Mission
Develop and execute strategic outreach plans across assigned geographies and business verticals to drive recurring licensing revenue growth.
Identify, prospect, and engage senior decision-makers across media, AI/data, financial services, business intelligence, distribution, and enterprise technology sectors.
Lead consultative sales cycles from discovery through negotiation, contracting, and onboarding coordination.
Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with strategic partners and prospective clients.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Product, Engineering, Editorial, Finance, and PR/Communications teams to support complex partnership opportunities.
Manage pipeline visibility, opportunity tracking, forecasting, and account activity within Salesforce.
Support renewal and expansion discussions within assigned strategic accounts.
Represent The Washington Post at industry conferences, networking events, and strategic partner meetings.
Monitor emerging industry trends, competitive activity, and evolving AI/data licensing opportunities to support business growth.
The Skills and Experience You Bring
5+ years of experience in enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, licensing, media, business intelligence, SaaS, data, or related industries.
Proven track record of driving new business development and managing complex consultative sales cycles.
Strong relationship-building and executive communication skills.
Experience navigating multi-stakeholder enterprise negotiations and extended sales cycles (3-12M).
Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic thinking capabilities.
Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities across regions and industries.
Interest in media, AI/data licensing, enterprise partnerships, and emerging technology ecosystems.
International business development experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Collaboration makes us stronger. That’s why our offices are designed with open layouts, modern technology, and easy access to transportation. With certain exceptions for newsgathering and business travel, we work on-site five days a week.
Compensation and Benefits
Wherever you are in your life or career, The Washington Post offers comprehensive and inclusive benefits for every step of your journey:
Competitive medical, dental and vision coverage
Company-paid pension and 401(k) match
Three weeks of vacation and up to three weeks of paid sick leave
