Full job description
Overview
Are you passionate about insurance industry transformation for the AI era? Insurance is undergoing a fundamental shift in how carriers, brokers, reinsurers, and benefits providers grow, operate, manage risk, and serve customers. Insurers are moving away from experimentation to enterprise-scale transformation, reshaping underwriting, claims, distribution, policyholder engagement, risk modeling, fraud detection, compliance, and employee productivity. By applying trustworthy, secure, scalable AI, Microsoft is helping insurers reimagine their businesses from outcomes inward, using breakthrough technologies to simplify operations, improve decision quality, deepen customer trust, and unlock new sources of growth. Microsoft’s Frontier Industry Advisory team is at the heart of that innovation, working directly with insurance business leaders to rewrite the playbook in light of disruption while living to the mission and business objectives of their industry.
As a Frontier Industry Advisor – Insurance on the Americas Frontier Insurance Industry team, you will help Microsoft’s most strategic insurance customers define and execute AI-led transformation agendas. This role is responsible for originating industry-led business opportunities and executive conversations that connect business outcomes to Microsoft cloud, data, AI, security, and partner capabilities. You will be the insurance industry subject matter expert engaging with senior business decision makers to identify, generate, and nurture transformational opportunities. You will go deep with select customers to help them move beyond isolated pilots toward governed, scalable AI adoption that delivers enterprise outcomes such as profitable growth, combined ratio improvement, claims and underwriting efficiency, better customer and agent experience, operational resilience, and regulatory trust. And you will develop Microsoft’s frontier insurance practice overall through thought leadership, targeted customer engagements, and strategic planning with Microsoft’s account teams and industry leadership.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.
Responsibilities
Planning and Engagement
Serve as the insurance industry subject matter expert for digital and AI transformation, account planning, and partner business planning. Engage business leaders, global systems integrators, ISVs, solution partners, and Microsoft account teams to align Microsoft capabilities with customers’ strategic priorities.
Bring a strategic insurance perspective to account planning, informed by market dynamics, AI adoption, legacy modernization, claims costs, climate risk, workforce changes, evolving customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.
Lead multi-horizon planning that connects business outcomes, processes, data, AI, governance, and technology investments. Help customers develop roadmaps from near-term modernization opportunities to enterprise-scale AI transformation.
Build and maintain relationships with senior executives and act as a trusted industry advisor by understanding customer strategies, operating models, market pressures, and opportunities to create value through Microsoft technologies and partners.
Identify and engage key stakeholders, decision makers, and transformation leaders to align business, technology, risk, operations, and partner ecosystems around strategic initiatives.
Sales Execution
Identify customer needs, industry readiness, and business-value opportunities across the insurance value chain, including underwriting, claims, distribution, customer service, policy administration, actuarial and risk modeling, fraud detection, reinsurance, life and property & casualty insurance, specialty insurance, and brokerage.
Lead industry-focused conversations that connect Microsoft technology to measurable business outcomes. Demonstrate how AI, agentic workflows, data platforms, copilots, automation, security, and governance can improve efficiency, customer experience, employee productivity, and risk decisioning.
Apply an outcomes-first approach by starting with business objectives and aligning process, architecture, data, AI, security, governance, and change-management requirements to achieve them.
Collaborate with account teams, rapid deployment teams, and internal stakeholders to build and mature pipeline opportunities. Conduct market and customer research to identify high-value opportunities for AI and cloud-driven transformation.
Represent the insurance industry perspective in customer engagements and help shape a shared vision for transforming front-office experiences and core insurance operations.
Identify, advance, and scale high-impact AI scenarios, including AI-assisted underwriting, agentic claims orchestration, intelligent document processing, producer and broker copilots, fraud investigation, customer service automation, climate and catastrophe analytics, actuarial modernization, compliance support, and enterprise knowledge assistants.
Help customers move from AI pilots to enterprise-scale transformation by modernizing operating models, redesigning workflows, strengthening data foundations, and embedding responsible AI practices.
Develop an insurance-focused vision and business value cases that connect Microsoft technology to industry outcomes and long-term business success.
Lead strategic discussions with senior executives and board-level stakeholders to define future-state insurance operations and demonstrate how Microsoft capabilities can help achieve them.
Articulate business value through insurance metrics such as premium growth, loss and expense ratios, claims efficiency, risk selection, retention, productivity, compliance, and customer trust.
Originate and drive transformational opportunities and multi-year partnerships. Work with account teams to align customer priorities, solution strategies, partner motions, executive sponsorship, and commercial execution.
Act as a trusted advisor who helps customers understand, prioritize, and execute their AI transformation journey through industry insight and business-focused guidance.
Collaboration and Partner Management
Collaborate with account teams, business strategy leaders, business development managers, solution architects, technical specialists, consulting teams, and partner organizations to plan, orchestrate, and execute customer opportunities.
Leverage the Microsoft partner ecosystem to solve complex insurance challenges and demonstrate how cloud, data, AI, security, low-code, productivity, business applications, and partner solutions work together to drive business outcomes.
Coordinate with commercial, legal, compliance, engineering, and customer success teams to establish strategic partnerships and advance customer transformation initiatives.
Industry Expertise
Maintain deep knowledge of insurance trends, Microsoft capabilities, competitive dynamics, partner solutions, regulatory developments, and emerging AI patterns, including the shift from task automation to enterprise-scale transformation.
Serve as an insurance thought leader, advising customers and internal teams on industry trends, customer challenges, emerging use cases, and strategic opportunities.
Provide feedback across sales, marketing, engineering, partner, solution, and product teams to inform product direction, solution development, industry messaging, and go-to-market execution.
Promote responsible AI practices, including transparency, explainability, human oversight, governance, privacy, security, bias mitigation, regulatory compliance, and auditability.
Present at customer, partner, and industry events to strengthen Microsoft's position as a strategic partner for AI-led insurance transformation.
Share industry knowledge, customer insights, and best practices to help develop less experienced colleagues and strengthen field execution.
