Full job description
At UnitedHealthcare, we’re simplifying the health care experience, creating healthier communities and removing barriers to quality care. The work you do here impacts the lives of millions of people for the better. Come build the health care system of tomorrow, making it more responsive, affordable and optimized. Ready to make a difference? Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together.
It's a big step forward when you realize that you've earned the trust to lead meaningful network management work. Take on this Network Contract Manager role with UnitedHealth Group and you'll be part of a team focused on building, sustaining, and improving provider networks that support affordability, access, quality, and a better health care experience. As a member of the network contracting team, you'll use network management experience, financial insight, provider relationship skills, and sound judgment to support provider network strategy, unit cost performance, and contract execution. You'll be expected to operate with ownership, resourcefulness, and strong organization while delivering highquality work in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
If you are able to work PST work hours, you’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support development and ongoing management of geographically competitive, stable provider networks that meet access, affordability, quality, and business performance objectives
Use network management experience to evaluate provider participation, specialty distribution, network adequacy, provider performance, and market-level network needs
Manage unit cost budgets, target setting, performance reporting, and associated financial models to support negotiation strategy and network performance decisions
Evaluate, negotiate, and support provider contracts in alignment with company templates, reimbursement standards, process controls, and business objectives
Build and maintain trusted working relationships with providers, internal partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve issues and advance network priorities
Research, analyze, and resolve complex network, contracting, reimbursement, or operational issues using sound judgment and available resources
Organize and manage multiple priorities, follow through on commitments, and deliver accurate, high-quality work within established deadlines
Provide clear explanations, recommendations, and updates on difficult issues to leaders, peers, and business partners
Coach, provide feedback, and guide others as needed to support team effectiveness and continuous improvement
Get ready for significant challenge. This is an intense, fast-paced environment that requires strong ownership, prioritization, and problem-solving. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently, use available resources effectively, and move work forward while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and timely delivery.
You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required Qualifications:
Proven ability to be a self-starter who takes ownership, works independently, and moves work forward with limited direction
Demonstrated resourcefulness in researching issues, identifying solutions, and using available tools, data, and relationships to solve problems
Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate, high-quality work
Proven success building trusted relationships with providers, internal partners, and cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in a network management-related role with responsibility for provider network strategy, access, adequacy, or performance
2+ years of experience in fee schedule development using actuarial models
2+ years of experience using financial models and analysis to negotiate rates with providers
2+ years of experience performing network adequacy analysis
Experience managing provider network priorities, contract-related work, or operational issues in a deadline-driven environment
Knowledge of Medicare Resource Based Relative Value System (RBRVS)
All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
