Store Manager
Boston, MA - Newbury
At Rothy’s, we believe there’s a better way to do business—one that puts the planet and its people first. That’s why we’ve transformed millions of plastic bottles into stylish, sustainable shoes and bags, creating wardrobe staples that look just as good as they feel.
In our retail stores, clienteling, and genuine connection are at the heart of everything we do. We take pride in building lasting relationships with our customers—getting to know their style, anticipating their needs, and creating personalized experiences that make them feel truly seen and supported. Whether it’s helping someone find their perfect fit or sharing the story behind our sustainable designs, every interaction is an opportunity to deepen that connection.
As we grow, we’re cultivating not just a workplace, but a community. It’s a place where careers can grow, ideas are shared, and people feel a true sense of belonging. Every day brings new opportunities to learn, lead, and make an impact—together, as part of a welcoming, inclusive team that celebrates each other’s contributions.
About the team:
Shopping at Rothy’s IRL is not your ordinary retail experience—so naturally, our Stores team is extraordinary, too. Experts in the fit, wear and sizing of our shoes, these team members provide deep knowledge of every Rothy’s style and out-of-this-world customer service—creating long-lasting brand loyalty. Customers love shopping in our stores due to these exceptional interactions.
About the role:
As Store Manager, you create an exceptional customer experience while keeping daily operations running smoothly. You lead a high-performing, engaged team and ensure the store operates efficiently. You collaborate with other stores and departments to solve problems, drive improvements, and set your team up for success. As a Rothy’s brand ambassador, you enthusiastically bring the mission and values to life for our customers, employees, and community.
What you’ll do:
Team Leadership (35%)
Proactively recruit, hire, onboard and develop a strong store team
Develop team members through in-the-moment feedback, regular floor observations, and consistent 1:1 check-ins
Maintain a high performance standard by training the team on all SOPs, service expectations, selling skills, and Rothy's product knowledge
Lead the Division of Responsibility (DOR) program with your leadership team
Ensure consistent execution of the Manager on Duty (MOD) program by setting clear expectations, reinforcing accountability, and regularly reviewing performance to deliver seamless customer and employee experience
Coach for high performance and manage employee relations concerns in partnership with your supervisor and the People Team
Create a positive and motivating team culture by actively identifying and acting on engagement opportunities
Customer Experience (50%)
Lead and model Rothy’s Experience through exceptional service and selling from the sales floor, ensuring the team is fully service-certified and actively coaching, training, and inspecting behaviors to uphold brand standards
Build customer loyalty through effective clienteling, working together with the team to strengthen long term relationships
Be the store's expert on brand and product knowledge, ensuring the team confidently shares our style, fit, quality, and sustainability story
Drive sales and key performance indicators by setting clear goals, celebrating wins, and holding the team accountable through daily coaching
Plan and execute in-store events and activations that grow brand awareness, connect with the local community, and drive sales
Ensure all presentation touchpoints including visual merchandising, cleanliness, and dress code consistently reflect brand standards and optimize the in-store experience
Operational Excellence (15%)
Plan and execute weekly, monthly, and annual business strategies to hit sales growth and profit goals
Manage payroll, staffing, scheduling, and store expenses to meet business goals
Oversee inventory processes including receiving, processing, damages, and stock accuracy
Partner closely with Visual Merchandising and cross-functional teams to uphold brand standards and optimize product performance
Use all company platforms and resources effectively for clear team communication and excellent operational execution
You are:
Guided by Rothy’s values and committed to fostering a welcoming, service driven environment:
Embrace Possibility. We dream BIG, really big
Obsess Over Innovation: We never accept the status quo
Make the Planet Proud. We make the right choice, not the easy one
Collaboration is Key. We’re laser focused on driving results
You have:
3 - 5 years of progressive retail leadership experience, ideally in a service focused environment
A proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth
Good judgment on key work and core issues
Ability to think critically and exhibit problem-solving skills
Strong skills in coaching, talent development, and building engaged, high-performing teams
Operational expertise, including scheduling, payroll, and inventory management
The ability to stand/walk an entire shift
The ability to lift, push carry or otherwise move up to 25 lbs
Ability to frequently bending, reaching, stretching, and safely use ladders and step stools
Ability to uphold Rothy’s Experience by following our dress code, including wearing Rothy’s shoes during every shift
Availability to work a minimum of 40 hours/week, including peak business days (Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays), holidays, and evening and opening shifts
Our benefits:
Generous paid time off
401k matching
Comprehensive health plans for you and your family
Supplemental mental health benefits
Monthly wellness reimbursement
