At Covenant House Georgia, we provide unconditional love and comprehensive support so that our youth can and will realize their fullest potential. We empower them to finish high school, start college, gain employment, live independently, and ultimately step out into the world knowing they are prepared to be successful.
About the Role
The Case Manager is responsible for providing ongoing support to youth (12-24 years of age) and families in Atlanta that have been impacted by the criminal justice system. Your work will support local communities through prevention, intervention, and diversion of at-risk youth. Specifically, you will provide 1-1 case management, life skills building, group facilitation, community engagement, building service plans for youth and family success, deescalation, conflict resolution, barrier support and aftercare The overall goal of the position is to enhance the quality of outcomes for youth and families as they pertain to the ATL Police Foundation Partnership Program. You will also help manage other community partners which entails bringing vendors on to help facilitate group work (speakers on financial literacy, healthy relationships, health testing), community services. All duties should be performed within the framework of the policies and procedures of Covenant House Georgia.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct all youth interactions in a manner that promotes acceptance, respect, honesty, and emphasizes the CHGAs Five Principles
Develop individualized case plans with measurable goals and objectives based on the needs identified in initial and on-going assessments
Meet with youth, families, probation officers and court officials on caseload weekly and document interactions in the electronic database
Participate with multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive service to our youth
Ensure the integration of social services/case management functions for family and community support, prevention, intervention, diversion and barrier support with other external service organizations, agencies, and healthcare facilities
Refer youth and families for appropriate services to meet their needs
Organize and facilitate quarterly community engagement events (resource fair, free healthcare testing, etc.)
Develop knowledge of the current community resources and referrals, including attendance at off-site meetings and training
Establish and maintain an ethical and professional relationship with youth, families and partners
Ensure documentation is entered timely into ETO, Client Track electronic databases, APF Spreadsheet and Case Worthy according to Data Integrity Plans
Provide crisis intervention independently and make informed decisions for youth infractions
Promote effective and efficient utilization of resources
Assist in the training and orientation of new staff, volunteers and interns
Seek and accept supervision and continuing education from supervisors and managers
Uphold Covenant House Georgia standards of conduct, policies, and procedures at all times
Attend and participate in all scheduled or mandatory meetings, trainings and supervision sessions
Adhere to all youth and family confidentiality requirements and standards
Perform all other tasks as requested by the Directors, Coordinators, and CHGA administration
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for working with homeless and at-risk youth and trauma informed practice
Aware of the needs of youth experiencing homelessness and at-risk of exploitation that Covenant House Georgia serves
Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with youth and families experiencing crisis or instability
Demonstrated empathy, patience, and the ability to support youth through difficult situations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution
Ability to respond calmly and effectively during crisis situations or emergencies
Knowledge of and ability to adhere to agency policies and procedures, including Child Protection Policies and safety protocols
Commitment to trauma-informed care and strengths-based approaches when working with youth
Ability to work effectively with and relate to individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, with openness and respect for differences in behavior
Self-motivated with sound judgment and initiative
Dependable with the ability to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with basic computer systems and documentation tools to drive agency vehicles to transport items and/or persons
Required Qualifications
BS in Human Services required with minimum of 2-4 years’ experience working with youth
Knowledge of mental health and substance use
Valid driver’s license and ability to successfully pass federal, state, and local background checks
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
MS of Social Work
CPR and First Aid certification desired
Expected Hours/Shifts
Monday through Friday; 2 late days/split shifts and 3 regular days (explained further below)
2 late days/split shifts; generally, 9 AM-5 PM and 12 PM-8 PM during school year, 9 AM-5 PM and 11 AM-7 PM during summer)
3 regular days; 9 AM- 5 PM
Travel Requirements
Travel between community sites in Atlanta and the Covenant House Georgia Headquarters

Ability to drive agency or personal vehicles to transport items and/or persons. Ability to travel as needed for training, donor meetings or to fulfill job requirements.
