Position Summary
The primary function of the Outside Sales position is to be responsible for all sales activities from lead generation through close in an assigned territory.
This person will develop and implement the agreed upon Company Sales Plan. The individual will work toward the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with branch vision and values, and his/her own personal business goals.
Training will be provided in product knowledge related to building materials including drywall, insulation, metal studs, ceiling systems, construction tools, construction safety products, drywall compounds, and related accessories.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for all steps of the sales process, including preparing action plans by account and product line, effective prospecting, and follow-through on sales leads and new customer opportunities.
Identify and execute opportunities for up-selling and cross-selling products and services.
Establish rapport with customers and build long-term, repeat customer relationships.
Demonstrate proficiency in product knowledge to assist customers with purchasing decisions and recommend appropriate solutions.
Provide timely and accurate competitive pricing on completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval.
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, sales performance, and pricing information.
Gather competitive market intelligence and pricing information to support sales strategy and business growth.
Consistently work toward achieving territory sales goals and customer satisfaction objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Three (3) to five (5) years of sales experience preferred.
Knowledge of building materials and the construction industry strongly preferred.
Valid driver's license required.
Motor vehicle record must meet Company requirements.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including proficiency with Excel preferred.
Ability to self-manage, show initiative, be proactive, and drive results.
Experience in all aspects of supplier and customer relationship management.
Comfortable interacting with customers, contractors, and the general public.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with coworkers and customers.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team while effectively collaborating with others to achieve business objectives.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
