The underwriter will participate in a 24-month rotational program to gain expertise in specialty insurance verticals. Responsibilities include analyzing quotes, renewals, and policy changes while building relationships with broker partners.
Candidates must be recent post-secondary graduates with less than 3 years of insurance experience and eligibility to work in Canada. Applicants should demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills and a willingness to pursue the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.

Salary range (but not limited to):
59,300 - 72,500Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. Our Specialty Lines Underwriter Development Program is a 24-month accelerated learning experience designed to give you unparalleled expertise and grow your career in an exciting industry. In this rotational program, mentors, managers, and underwriting coaches will teach you the ins and outs of our specialty insurance business through a variety of learning styles.
But wait, what exactly IS Specialty Lines? And what does an underwriter do?
Specialty Lines is a major division of our business that provides insurance solutions to unique industries with complex product needs such as Directors and Officers, Professional Liability, Crime, Technology, Construction, Equipment Breakdown, and Farm insurance.
Our Underwriters understand our products inside and out. As a member of the team, you’d become a champion of risk assessment and work directly with Intact’s network of Brokers – the people who sell our products to businesses – to make sure they understand the products, know how to market them, and help them to evaluate the potential risks of taking on certain portfolios.
