The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Buying, the Head of Fashion & Gifting sets category direction across the portfolio, owns the most strategic supplier relationships and joint business plans, and builds a high-performing team.
The role operates at a portfolio and team level: setting strategy, allocating resource, coaching the team and holding the line on commercial performance, alongside some category manager responsibilities.
What You’ll Do: ✅ Portfolio Strategy & Commercial Leadership: Define and execute a customer-led, Fashion & Gifting buying strategy that delivers sales, margin, and profit targets while creating a compelling range architecture across all store formats and locations. ✅ Team Leadership & Capability: Inspire, coach, and develop a team of Fashion & Gifting Category Managers and Assistant Category Managers, fostering a high-performance culture, building capability, and creating strong succession pipelines. ✅ Strategic Supplier Management and Negotiation: Lead strategic supplier relationships and senior negotiations, securing best-in-class commercial terms, funding opportunities, and innovative joint business plans that drive growth. ✅ Pricing, Margin & P&L Ownership: Own portfolio profitability through effective pricing strategies, margin management, performance analysis, and decisive action to maximise commercial outcomes and exceed financial targets. ✅ Range Planning, Promotions & Market Execution: Oversee range reviews, planograms and NPD across the portfolio, new product development, availability, promotional planning, and go-to-market execution while providing clear performance insights and representing the portfolio at senior leadership level.
What We’re Looking For: ✅ 7-10 years' buying or category management experience in Fashion and/or Gifting. ✅ Demonstrated experience leading a team of buyers / category managers. ✅ Proven accountability for a multi-category portfolio P&L - sales, margin and profitability - ideally in retail or travel retail. ✅ Strong track record of senior supplier negotiation and joint business planning. ✅ Experience setting category strategy and range architecture across multiple categories.
