Employment Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Duration: Fixed-term contract (3 years)
Remuneration $148012 - $157056 + 17% super + leave loading
Location: UNSW Kensington Campus
About UNSW: UNSW isn’t like other places you’ve worked. Yes, we’re a large organisation with a diverse and talented community, a community doing extraordinary things. Together, we are driven to be thoughtful, practical, and purposeful in all we do. Taking this combined approach is what makes our work matter. If you want a career where you can thrive, be challenged and do meaningful work, you’re in the right place.
Why Your Role Matters: As a Senior Solution Business Analyst, you will sit at the centre of transformative, enterprise-wide initiatives that shape how the University operates and grows. Your work will turn complex challenges into clear, actionable solutions—ensuring that strategy is translated into delivery in a way that is practical, scalable, and aligned to long-term priorities.
UNSW is rolling out a new learning management system (LMS), approved in June 2026, as a major university-wide transformation by 2030. Delivered faculty by faculty and aligned with the 2028 Flex-Semester transition for early adopting faculties, it will reshape teaching and learning.
The LMS Program goes beyond technology, combining change, training, and engagement through a human-centred design approach. Joining now means contributing to a high-impact initiative with strong leadership and a multidisciplinary team.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will influence both business and technology decisions, bringing insight, structure, and clarity to critical initiatives. Your ability to define requirements, drive process improvements, and align diverse perspectives will be key to delivering meaningful and sustainable outcomes across the organisation.
Beyond project delivery, your impact will extend to strengthening the broader business analysis capability. By mentoring others and contributing to best-practice standards, tools, and frameworks, you will help build a more consistent, high-performing approach to analysis across the University.
Ultimately, your role will be instrumental in enabling smarter decision-making, driving innovation, and ensuring the University continues to evolve with confidence in an increasingly complex and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities Summary:
Lead end-to-end business analysis across complex, enterprise-wide initiatives, from discovery through to delivery and post-implementation review.
Partner with senior stakeholders to define strategic requirements and align business and technology outcomes with University priorities.
Analyse and design “as-is” and “to-be” processes and solution models across multiple systems and business areas.
Develop and contribute to business cases, feasibility studies, and options analysis to support informed decision-making.
Define and implement best-practice business analysis approaches, tools, and deliverables aligned to organisational standards.
Mentor and guide business analysts to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment across projects and workstreams.
Collaborate with architects, developers, data teams, and testers to deliver solutions that meet both business and technical needs.
Lead and support testing activities, including test case definition, UAT, and validation against requirements.
Build deep understanding of enterprise systems, data, and interdependencies to provide strategic advice and impact assessment.
Contribute to continuous improvement of business analysis capability, standards, and governance, while upholding UNSW values and health and safety responsibilities.
For more information regarding the responsibilities for this role, please refer to the Position Description at JOBS@UNSW.
Skills and Experience Summary:
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
Significant experience (typically 10+ years) as a business analyst in large, complex organisations, with demonstrated ability to lead strategic and enterprise-scale initiatives, with prior Learning Management System experience as highly desirable.
Proven ability to operate effectively within structured and agile delivery environments (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
High-level expertise in business analysis techniques and tools, including process mapping, data analysis, requirements elicitation, solution evaluation, and stakeholder engagement.
Demonstrated experience developing business cases, contributing to procurement or vendor selection processes, and supporting implementation of enterprise platforms.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex interdependencies and develop practical solutions.
Outstanding communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills, with experience working with diverse stakeholder groups including executive sponsors, technical teams, and end users.
Demonstrated leadership in guiding, mentoring, or reviewing the work of other analysts within or across teams.
Familiarity with enterprise systems, data governance, CRM, ERP, or integration platforms is desirable.
An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
