Full job description
Inspired Education is the leading global group of premium schools, with a portfolio of 125 premium private schools spanning 6 continents which utilise proven educational practices from every corner of the globe, ensuring over 95,000 students receive a world-class learning experience from Kindergarten to Year 13.

They collectively form an international family of schools that nurtures each student's academic and personal development in a progressive, dynamic, and innovative learning environment.
By joining our award-winning team of over 14,000 employees, you can work in state-of-the-art facilities alongside industry-renowned educators and leaders in some of the world's most desirable locations. We invest heavily in our team members who enjoy industry-leading professional development, exceptional career opportunities, and mobility across our group.
ROLE SUMMARY:
Reddam House North Shore proudly stands as a beacon to the Inspired Education Group’s network of independent schools. As a co-educational, non-denominational institution, we continue the tradition of empowering students to achieve their full potential within a nurturing, student-centred environment.
More than just an educational offering, Reddam House North Shore represents a distinctive choice—one that integrates academic excellence with rich cultural and sporting opportunities. In 2027, we will expand our student body from 850 to 1100, and in preparation for this exciting growth, we are seeking outstanding educators and staff to join our team in a limited number of newly created positions.
The Secondary Music Teacher plays a pivotal role in guiding students from Years 7–12 through their musical education. This role involves delivering engaging, high-quality classroom music instruction across Stages 4–6, aligned with the NESA curriculum, while inspiring students to develop as performers, composers and informed listeners.
We are seeking an exceptional Music Teacher with a passion for inspiring young musicians, fostering creativity and delivering outstanding educational outcomes. While this is primarily a classroom teaching position, applicants with experience in championing composition within a secondary music department are particularly encouraged to apply.
This position will commence as a 0.7 FTE appointment from Term 1, 2027, with strong potential to expand to a full-time (1.0 FTE) position as the Music Department continues to grow.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creating Engaging Lessons: Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons that inspire and challenge students while aligning with the NESA syllabus, school policies and assessment requirements. Differentiate learning to ensure every student is challenged, supported and achieves outstanding progress.
Supporting Student Growth: Teach Music across Stages 4–6, supporting students in developing practical, theoretical and creative musicianship through performance, listening and composition.
Supporting and Assessing Progress: Assess students’ learning through a range of formative and summative assessment strategies, providing timely and constructive feedback that supports academic growth and musical development.
Building a Positive Learning Environment: Create a classroom culture where students feel valued, challenged and confident to take creative risks while developing a lifelong appreciation for music.
Collaborating and Sharing Best Practice: Work collaboratively with colleagues as an active member of the Music Department, contributing to curriculum development, sharing innovative teaching practices and engaging in ongoing professional learning.
Contributing to School Life: Play an active role in the school’s co-curricular programme and Music Department, supporting concerts, performances, ensembles and other initiatives that enrich students’ musical experiences.
Collaborating with Parents: Maintain positive and constructive communication with parents, building strong partnerships that support each student’s academic and personal development.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Proven experience teaching Secondary Music with a strong understanding of NESA curriculum requirements.
Demonstrated experience teaching Stage 4 Music. Experience teaching Stage 5 and Stage 6 Music is highly desirable.
Experience in student assessment, reporting and curriculum planning.
Confidence using music technology, notation software and digital learning tools to enhance teaching and learning.
Experience organising and supporting performances, concerts and other music-related activities.
Experience teaching composition across a range of musical styles, including both contemporary and Western art music traditions.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Passionate about education and committed to the holistic development of students from Years 7–12
Demonstrated success mentoring students through the HSC Composition elective.
Patient, empathetic, and supportive of students’ emotional and social well-being.
Collaborative team player who communicates effectively with staff, parents, and stakeholders.
Resilient and adaptable in dynamic educational settings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Education (Secondary), Bachelor of Music Education, or equivalent teaching qualification.
Accreditation with NESA (NSW Education Standards Authority).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Working with Children Check
Willingness to assist with lunch/playground supervision and student drop-off/pick-up duties.
Availability to attend school events outside regular hours, including concerts, performances and parent meetings.
SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT:
Inspired Education Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practices and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
