The City of Edmonton's Fleet and Facility Services team is seeking a Client Services Technologist to serve as the primary link and project coordinator for maintenance and technical programs across City-owned and leased facilities. Reporting to the Supervisor of Client Services, this role collaborates with maintenance planners and facility user groups to set priorities, align schedules, and meet service standards. Responsibilities include evaluating demand work, monitoring preventative maintenance, providing cost and KPI reports, and addressing operational inquiries to optimize service delivery and budgets. Working independently with minimal supervision, you will balance safety, costs, timelines, and stakeholder needs.
What will you do?
Serve as the primary contact between Facility Maintenance Services (FMS) and operational client groups
Review and evaluate demand work for facility modifications, prioritizing tasks in consultation with operational partners and supervisors
Collaborate with planners to review planned maintenance schedules, identify gaps, and optimize preventative maintenance
Analyze maintenance activity, costs, and performance data within SAP, generating detailed financial and KPI reports for leadership and client groups
Investigate and respond to facility maintenance concerns,and operational inquiries, negotiating solutions to resolve issues effectively
Support maintenance work and align with service level agreements
Analyze SAP reports of activities, cost and performance for review by the supervisor highlighting anomalies for FMS leadership
Identify trends and improvements to recommend operational improvements for service delivery
Participate and report on significant maintenance activities that may impact FMS operations and budget
Consult with client departments to establish the priority of maintenance/technical activities and projects in relation to their operation
Provide feedback from clients to FMS on improvement of service delivery and customer satisfaction
Completion of a two (2) year diploma in Construction Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, or a closely related engineering technology program
A minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience in facility maintenance, technical project coordination, or building systems
Eligibility for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET)
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent)
Assets:
Active registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with ASET
Direct experience working within a municipal or public sector facility management environment
Experience working with building trades, contractors, and project management professionals
Skills required for success:
Demonstrated knowledge of technical and engineering principles, trade practices, Alberta Building Code, Fire Code, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations
Strong proficiency with maintenance software and systems (such as SAP PM) and standard office productivity suites (such as Google Workspace)
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to consult, negotiate, and build positive relationships with diverse collaborators
Strong analytical ability to interpret complex technical specifications, evaluate budget reports, and identify operational trends
Excellent organizational and time-management skills to balance competing priorities, solve complex problems, and meet deadlines independently

Work Environment:
Primary work is performed in an office setting, supplemented by site visits to various City facilities and operational locations
