This position is responsible for ensuring engineering design and construction activities are completed in compliance with CAHSR technical standards, federal and state regulations, and industry best practices. The Construction Project Engineer provides technical review, design oversight, and field engineering support to resolve complex engineering issues, while coordinating across multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Coordinate across disciplines (civil, structural, geotechnical, systems, and environmental) to ensure integration of design and construction activities
Provide technical input during constructability reviews and value engineering assessments
Take part in the management of contractor teams to bid, propose and deploy for construction. Monitor construction progress and support the Engineering Manager in ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence. Be proactive in solving any field issue to alleviate contractor impacts
Assist in the development and maintenance of engineering procedures, technical criteria, construction, and project documentation
Interface with contractors, consultants, local jurisdictions, and regulatory agencies as required for technical coordination
Support risk identification and mitigation activities related to engineering and construction
Other related duties may be assigned

Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible engineering experience on major transportation or infrastructure projects, with emphasis on design review and construction support
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering standards, construction methods, and project delivery for large-scale transportation or rail projects
Strong technical writing and communication skills for coordination across multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
