Lead the end-to-end competitive benchmarking process for Snowflake's Analytics portfolio to validate product performance against competitors. Translate technical results into market-facing narratives, blogs, and sales enablement materials to communicate technical differentiation.
Requirements
Requires 6+ years of experience in technical roles such as product engineering or technical product marketing with a strong grasp of modern data platforms. Must possess a bachelor's degree in a technical field and the ability to design rigorous, defensible testing methodologies.
Full job description
At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.
Snowflake product marketers develop and execute go-to-market strategies for the most strategic areas of the business. We are looking for a highly technical, driven, and self-motivated Product Marketing Engineer to lead competitive benchmarking for Snowflake’s Analytics portfolio.
This role will own the end-to-end benchmarking process, from defining the testing strategy and designing the benchmarking architecture to executing workloads, validating results, and communicating the outcomes. You will partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to evaluate Snowflake products against competitive offerings using rigorous, repeatable, and defensible methodologies.
You will translate technical benchmark results into meaningful customer outcomes and compelling market-facing narratives. Your work will appear across Snowflake blogs, partner publications, technical papers, presentations, demos, and videos. You will also closely monitor competitive products, technical claims, and published benchmarks, helping Snowflake respond quickly, credibly, and strategically.
The role will support Snowflake’s broader Analytics portfolio, including Interactive Analytics for real-time use cases, Business Intelligence, Semantic Views, Ontologies, context for AI-powered applications, and core data warehouse engine performance.
Responsibilities:
Develop and own the technical benchmarking strategy for Snowflake’s Analytics portfolio.
Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Product Marketing to identify priority products, features, workloads, competitors, and customer scenarios for evaluation.
Contribute to the architecture, development, and ongoing improvement of a scalable and repeatable benchmarking platform.
Configure environments, execute benchmark tests, troubleshoot technical issues, analyze results, and validate findings with engineering and product stakeholders.
Ensure that benchmark methodologies and conclusions are accurate, reproducible, transparent, and defensible.
Evaluate products and capabilities that may still be under development or have not yet been publicly released.
Translate complex technical findings into clear customer outcomes, business value, and differentiated product messaging.
Create compelling technical content, including Snowflake blogs, partner blogs, benchmark reports, presentations, sales enablement materials, demos, and videos.
Present benchmarking methodologies and results to internal teams, customers, partners, analysts, and broader technical audiences.
Monitor competitive analytics products, architectural developments, performance claims, product launches, and published benchmarks.
Develop timely and thoughtful responses to competitive benchmark claims, working closely with Product, Engineering, Competitive Intelligence, Communications, Legal, and other relevant stakeholders.
Build a strong internal point of view on competitive performance, architectural differentiation, and the strengths and limitations of different benchmarking approaches.
Provide benchmark-driven insights to Product Management and Engineering that help inform product improvements, roadmap priorities, and future product direction.
Enable Sales, Solutions Engineering, and partner teams to confidently communicate Snowflake’s technical differentiation.
Establish measurement and reporting processes to evaluate the reach, influence, and business impact of benchmarking programs.
Required Qualifications
6+ years of experience in product engineering, performance engineering, technical product marketing, competitive engineering, solutions architecture, data engineering, or a related technical role.
Strong understanding of modern data platforms, cloud data warehouses, analytics engines, and business intelligence architectures.
Hands-on experience designing and executing technical benchmarks, performance tests, workload comparisons, or competitive product evaluations.
Experience working with SQL, data modeling, query performance analysis, workload management, and large-scale analytical systems.
Ability to design fair, repeatable, and technically defensible testing methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate unexpected results and distinguish product behavior from configuration, architecture, or testing issues.
Ability to collaborate deeply with Product Management and Engineering teams on highly technical products and features.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts without losing accuracy or credibility.
Demonstrated ability to translate technical capabilities and performance results into customer outcomes and differentiated business value.
Experience creating technical content for external audiences, such as blogs, reports, presentations, demos, webinars, or videos.
Strong cross-functional leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
Ability to manage multiple benchmarking initiatives and respond quickly to changing market and competitive priorities.
Comfort working with confidential products, unreleased features, and sensitive competitive information.
BS or BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working at a cloud data platform, database, data warehouse, business intelligence, analytics, or AI infrastructure company.
Experience benchmarking platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Microsoft Fabric, or other analytical data systems.
Experience with performance testing tools, workload automation, infrastructure-as-code, cloud environments, and benchmarking frameworks.
Familiarity with semantic layers, metrics stores, ontologies, real-time analytics, interactive analytics, and AI-powered business intelligence.
Experience evaluating total cost of ownership, price-performance, concurrency, scalability, elasticity, reliability, and operational complexity.
Experience producing technical videos, live demonstrations, conference presentations, or other developer-focused content.
Understanding of competitive intelligence practices and experience developing responses to competitive technical claims.
Experience collaborating with technology partners on joint benchmarks, technical validation, or co-marketing content.
Graduate degree in a technical or business discipline.
Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
