Job Description Summary
This role will be a key leadership role within the product management function and a critical part of the broader Gas Power cost imperative. The Systems/Data Architect within product management will translate functional requirements and constrains from Stakeholders (Customers, Supply Chain, Partners, etc.) coupled with big data analytics to drive both product design and operational improvements. The ideal team member will have the mathematical and statistical expertise with a natural curiosity and creative mind geared towards problem solving.
The Architect will mine, interpret, clean, and synthesize data (across technical, operational, and financial domains) from which to ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover opportunities that lie hidden within—all with the ultimate goal of realizing the data’s full potential to influence the way we operate and serve our customers. They will drive configurability across the plant/product modules for cost effective business decisions optimizing the total value of our solutions while meeting market/customer needs. They will influence, collaborate, and work closely with the horizontal functional partners to achieve the optimal and effective decisions.
Job Description
Key Deliverables:
Work as the lead data strategist, identifying, integrating, sorting, and placing the data infrastructure (e.g. parts ordering, customer need by dates) needed for our product capabilities and competitiveness. This involves cross functional collaboration (e.g. information technology, sourcing, parts teams) and strategy setting aimed at providing tactical process changes in the measurement methods and accuracy used to improve our performance against safety, quality, on time delivery, and cost.
Execute large scale data analytics with clear methodological steps to help solve operational challenges (e.g. logistics network node optimization and consolidation across products) while outputting a set of strategic operational improvements (e.g. safety stock adjustment, lead time reductions, etc…) that reduce overall product landed cost while maintaining or improving quality and on time delivery.
Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine big data stores, perform data and error analysis to improve predictive models (e.g. digital maintenance repair and outages or non-capital parts demand forecast) intended to provide planned signals to the operations teams to act on allowing for better operational execution while unlocking favorable financial benefits.
Analyze historical and incoming data for trends and patterns (e.g. mean and standard deviation cost/part, part/supplier lead time fluctuations, cost of poor quality, transport equipment utilization rates, etc.…), and interpret data with clear output signals to the respective function to take action and create new cost out opportunities.
Communicate analytic solutions with clarity to stakeholders and project manage/collaborate cross functionally towards implementing the necessary process improvements up to project realization.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field
5 years engineering experience or technical/operations disciplines
Desired Characteristics:
Experience working with programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL, R, VBA etc.), other software (e.g. Tableau, Alteryx, Excel, etc.), and AI tools
Prior academic or work in systems engineering
Master’s (or higher) in engineering, business, or other technical disciplines
Outcome oriented with courage to challenge existing processes and redefine them for business benefits
Proven thought leader/provocative thinker
Experience in systems engineering and systems thinking including concept development, system/product design, requirements management, risk management, etc... ; Power plant and systems level knowledge
Ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountability for results
Understands the technical nuances and complex interrelationships within a specified system
Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis
Advanced pattern recognition and predictive modeling experience
Technical competency across systems, manufacturing, and process
Strong analytic skills with an emphasis on critical, systems thinking, root cause analysis, and business case elaboration and analysis
Quick learner and able to capture and apply new knowledge from other disciplines formally & informally
Experience in provisioning optimized design/function solutions, requirements-level contracting and supplier relationship management
