Serve as a civilian Supervisory Physician (Medical Evaluation Board) with the Department of Defense at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, GA.

This is a Direct Hire SolicitationMedical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.
Position available for a full-time civilian Supervisory Physician (Medical Evaluation Board) at Fort Gordon, adjacent to Augusta, Georgia, famous for its major attraction, The Masters Golf Tournament. Ft. Gordon has a moderate year-round climate and offers proximity to metropolitan areas, beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and the Appalachian Mountains. The Augusta area is a growing community with an excellent quality of life. A wide variety of cultural and outdoor recreational activities are readily available locally, and many more are easily accessible from the coast to the mountains. Augusta has a vibrant professional medical environment, including the Medical College of Georgia and other referral medical centers. The cost of living is quite reasonable, with quality homes at good prices.
Responsibilities
Serves as the Senior Supervisory Physician and technical expert for the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) Outpatient Clinic. Operates with maximum professional latitude and independent clinical judgment to oversee fitness-for-duty evaluations, Medical Evaluation Boards, and Temporary Disability Retired List (TDRL), and responsible for the dictation of narrative summaries, addendums, dictating responses to concerns raised by soldiers and the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) or Physical Disability Agency (PDA).
1. MEB Clinical Leadership & Case Management
Direct Operations: Provide clinical and technical direction to MEB clinic staff.
Conduct Evaluations: Coordinate and perform comprehensive fitness-for-duty, MEB, and TDRL evaluations. Review medical records, interpret diagnostic tests, and order specialty consultations.
Determine Readiness: Apply extensive knowledge of Army officer skills, Enlisted Military Occupational Specialties (MOS), and command-level readiness criteria to analyze complex medical cases.
Ensure Quality Documentation: Dictate and review comprehensive Narrative Summaries (NARSUMs) and medical board consultations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) standards.
2. Specialized Clinical Consultation & Medical Assessment
Consult on Complex Cases: Collaborate with and advise other physicians (Family Medicine, Psychiatry, etc.) to resolve highly complex, difficult, or conflicting medical evidence.
Comprehensive Outpatient Care: Perform routine, complex, and emergency intakes, diagnostic evaluations, and medical assessments.
Referrals & Care Coordination: Direct patients to appropriate medical or mental health providers inside and outside the Medical Treatment Facility.
Evidence-Based Practice: Maintain expert-level knowledge of medical literature and apply developments to clinical practices.
3. Clinic Supervision & Personnel Management
Superve Staff: Perform first-line supervisory duties for clinic personnel (including Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners).
Lead Personnel Administration: Set performance standards, conduct evaluations, schedule training/leave, and initiate personnel actions (hiring, promotions, and disciplinary measures).
Manage Workflow: Assign daily tasks, establish team priorities, and review completed work for timeliness and policy compliance.
Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United
States
Must have Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
