About the role
As Procurement Lead, you play a critical role in enabling positive customer and business outcomes by leading Council’s strategic procurement and purchasing functions. Success in this role means building a mature, trusted procurement capability that supports leaders and teams to navigate procurement confidently, compliantly and efficiently.
Working closely with the Manager Strategic Procurement and Property, you will provide specialist advice, practical tools and clear processes that balance governance, probity and risk with commercial outcomes and service delivery needs. You will also help shape Council’s strategic procurement direction, strengthening ways of working, leveraging technology and building strong internal and external relationships to improve procurement and tendering practices across Council.
This is a full-time temporary Parental leave backfill position until July/August 2027 based at the Civic Centre. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.
This is a Band 7 classified role. Remuneration will be $115,162.08 to $129,157.23 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will bring to this role
The key selection criteria for this role are:
A strong customer focus, with the ability to understand needs, consider impacts and deliver outcomes that balance service expectations and organisational requirements.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including people management, emotional intelligence, capability building and fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment.
Proven problem-solving skills, including analysing information, managing competing priorities and applying practical solutions within legislative, policy and governance frameworks.
The ability to work collaboratively and influence effectively, building strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
Strong knowledge and experience in procurement, including tendering, contract management and the application of relevant contract and governance principles (highly desirable)
