About the role 

The Corporate Information Officer plays a key role in delivering Council’s core records management services, including scanning, registration, file management, archiving, and general records administration and support across the organisation. Working in line with Council policies and procedures, you will help ensure information is accurately managed, maintained, and accessible.

This role is essential in supporting Council’s compliance with the Public Records Act 1973 and contributes to the achievement of strong, consistent, and effective records management practices across Council.

This is a part-time temporary role based at Knox Civic Centre.  We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 4 classified role. Remuneration will be $73,349.33 to $78,124.95 (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will deliver during this period:

  • Deliver efficient and accurate records management services, including the receipt, registration, classification, distribution, retrieval, and storage of physical and electronic records.
  • Support Council’s document and mail services, including internal mail distribution, outgoing correspondence, parcel coordination, and digital mail processes.
  •  Maintain the integrity of Council’s records through effective file management, record appraisal, retention, disposal, and compliance activities.
  • Provide responsive records management advice and support to Council staff, promoting best-practice recordkeeping across the organisation.
  • Resolve customer and stakeholder enquiries in a professional and timely manner, escalating issues where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, business process enhancements, and projects that strengthen information management and compliance outcomes.
  • Build strong working relationships across Council while actively contributing to team objectives, learning, and professional development.

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Demonstrated commitment to displaying the organisation’s values.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Public Records Act 1973, supporting PROV Standards, Specifications, Guidelines and Advices.
  • Demonstrated application of records management policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated archiving experience in the application of PROV Retention and Disposal Schedules.
  • Demonstrated experience with an electronic document and records management system (EDRMS) and proficiency in the use of desktop based office applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in the handling, processing and distribution of all inward and outward mail items.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
