Full job description
You’re someone who wants to create outcomes that have a real impact on the people of NSW.
You're all about the detail and this role will allow you to drive evidence-based decision making to optimise systems and efficiency, not just for the business but for our customers too. It's data and research with impact you can see.
In this role, you'll:
Be working as part of a team delivering scalable, secure and reliable data solutions that support analytics, business intelligence and operational systems.
This role will see you design, build and optimise modern data pipelines, integration frameworks and data management processes across cloud platforms, ensuring data is accurate, accessible and well governed to enable data-driven decision-making and business outcomes.
As a newly created role, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape ways of working, share your engineering expertise and contribute to a collaborative, squad-based environment.
You will lead the development and automation of data pipelines and integration solutions, provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams, mentor and support colleagues, drive efficiencies and innovation, and deliver trusted data outcomes in a complex enterprise environment balancing performance, scalability, governance, cybersecurity, privacy and diverse stakeholder priorities.
Your strong data engineering expertise, communication skills, collaborative approach and problem-solving capability formed across cloud, data engineering, analytics and enterprise technology environments will see you excel in designing and delivering scalable, high-quality data solutions, integrating complex and diverse data sources, and enabling reliable business intelligence, analytics and operational reporting outcomes.
You’re recognised as a collaborative and influential communicator, skilled at building relationships, actively listening, solving problems and working effectively across cross-functional teams, experienced in designing and managing large-scale data engineering solutions using cloud platforms such as AWS and Databricks, SQL, Python, ETL/ELT frameworks, data modelling, database design, automation, governance, security and engineering best practices.
You have experience developing reusable data frameworks, tools, and automation solutions that improve efficiency, scalability, and data quality.
You will bring the ability to navigate evolving cloud and data engineering technologies, balance innovation with governance and compliance requirements, manage competing priorities in a complex enterprise environment, and identify opportunities to deliver measurable customer, operational and business value through modern data solutions.
Location: Macquarie Park
Working arrangement: Hybrid, with the team currently spending approximately 50% of their time working from the office.
Why join us?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed role within a diverse and collaborative team. Success in this position will come from being both technically strong and an excellent communicator who values respect, active listening, teamwork and shared success. You'll thrive in a collaborative squad-based environment, contribute your engineering expertise, help solve complex challenges and support a culture that works together rather than in silos.
