Course number and title: FOR3008HF – Case Study Capstone in Forest Conservation
Course description:
This course will involve analyzing information and preparing formal reports based on the summer internship, in consultation with individual faculty supervisors. Students will deliver brief seminar presentations on their work, and there will be an oral defense of the final paper.

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026; please note that this position includes the completion of course work and grading not completed by December 31, 2026.
Salary (per half-course, inclusive of vacation):

Minimum qualifications:
Extensive professional experience within the forestry sector. Familiarity of the Master of Forest Conservation program at the University of Toronto and the layout of the capstone project process. Excellent organization skills and the ability to communicate with students and assess their project work accordingly. Teaching certificates are also an asset.
Description of duties:
Ensure students have an internal academic supervisor and make necessary connections when required. Develop and organize workshops to assist students with progress of their capstone papers. Follow up with students to ensure they are meeting deadlines and progressing on schedule. Develop and maintain a consistent grading standard. Work one-on-one and with the student group as a whole to prepare Master of Forest Conservation students for their final capstone projects and presentations. Schedule students and supervisors for the December presentation period. Act as host during the presentations. Ensure students submit a final copy of capstone paper. The course goals, content, and learning outcomes of the course must fulfil partial requirements for CFAB (Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board) Standard 2 Communications, Critical Reasoning & Leadership (Elements (2.1-1, 2.1-2, 2.1-3, 2.1-5, 2.1-6, 2.2-1, 2.2-2, 2.2-3, 2.2-4) and Standard 7 Planning & Administration (Elements 7.2-3).
