We connect the dots of a new mobility revolution, enabling cities, highway authorities and mobility operators to create safer, smarter and more sustainable transport networks. Through digitalisation and disruptive technologies, our solutions support proactive traffic management, adaptive systems, tunnel automation, smart tolling, connected mobility and cleaner, more livable cities.
The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead Yunex Traffic Australia and lead our expansion into New Zealand. The role is accountable for defining and executing the ANZ business strategy in alignment with global and APAC Hub strategy, driving profitable growth, strengthening our market position and ensuring excellent execution across customers, projects, technology priorities and the Australian organisation.
This is a senior country leadership role for a commercially mature executive with deep experience in the Intelligent Transport Systems and/or broader transport technology sector, a proven track record leading organisations in the transport industry, and the stakeholder presence to engage confidently with customers, transport authorities, employees, shareholders and global/APAC leadership.
Key responsibilities
Strategy and P&L
Own the Australian country strategy and country plan as part of long-term planning and the annual budget cycle.
Deliver profitable growth in revenue, EBITDA, cash performance and order intake.
Translate APAC and global priorities into clear local initiatives, execution plans and performance measures.
Manage commercial risk, contracts, business cases and investment decisions with disciplined P&L ownership.
Execute Board of Director duties during regular board meetings providing a strong governance backbone for the company.
Customer and market leadership
Develop and maintain executive relationships with state transport authorities, road operators, infrastructure customers and strategic partners.
Strengthen Yunex Traffic’s position in New South Wales, Victoria and adjacent Australian markets as well as New Zealand.
Represent Yunex Traffic as the senior country leader in market, industry and customer forums.
Bring strong shareholder and stakeholder management capability, balancing customer, employee, shareholder and governance priorities.
Business growth
Drive growth of Yunex products, solutions and services, including localisation of global products where commercially feasible.
Lead major bids, commercial negotiations and resourcing decisions for priority opportunities.
Collaborate with other APAC Hub entities and countries to export Australian capability and successfully localise global solutions.
Delivery and operations
Ensure successful project and service delivery across quality, schedule, profitability, commissioning and customer outcomes.
Drive operational excellence, service profitability, workforce management and continuous improvement of services.
Ensure compliance with EHS requirements and achievement of EHS goals. Safety is key for Yunex Traffic and is a pre-requisite for a successful candidate.
Create the operating discipline needed to manage service delivery, project execution and customer commitments at country level.
Experience in maintenance projects and project delivery are a must with focus on strong program management, claim and contract management as well as knowledge of EHS requirements
People, culture and governance
Build a high-performing, collaborative and accountable ANZ team with strong role clarity and alignment to strategic focus areas.
Develop leaders and critical talent, while strengthening succession depth and cross-functional collaboration.
Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and governance standards.
Share and adopt best practice from mature markets and other Yunex countries to accelerate local performance.
Live up to the Yunex core values and drive a business on positive professional attitude and solution focus.
About you
Extensive time spent in the Intelligent Transport Systems industry, traffic technology, transport infrastructure, mobility solutions or a closely related sector.
Proven experience leading an organisation, country business, business unit or substantial commercial operation in the transport industry.
Demonstrated P&L accountability with strong commercial acumen across revenue growth, margin performance, cash, order intake, contracts and risk.
Strong Australian market knowledge, ideally including networks with state transport agencies, public authorities, road operators, systems integrators and key customers.
Track record managing long-term partnership-style customer relationships, complex bids, large-scale projects and service delivery environments.
Mature people leader with experience building high-performing teams, lifting accountability, motivating talent and collaborating across regional and global matrix organisations.
Excellent stakeholder and shareholder management skills, with the judgment to balance strategic ambition, governance, customer outcomes and employee engagement.
Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the credibility to represent Yunex Traffic externally and internally at executive level.
Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, technology, business, commerce, management or a related discipline. Equivalent executive experience will also be considered.
Ability to be based in Melbourne or Sydney and travel across Australia and the APAC region as required.
Why join Yunex Traffic?
Lead the Australian business of a global intelligent traffic technology company at a pivotal stage of growth.
Shape transport outcomes across major cities, road networks and infrastructure programmes.
Work closely with APAC Hub management and global colleagues to localise technology, scale solutions and share best practice across markets.
Build and lead a collaborative organisation focused on safety, customer outcomes, performance and innovation.
Access flexible working arrangements, continuous learning and development opportunities, and exposure to the broader APAC region.
