The Opportunity
As a Junior Building Sciences Technologist, you will contribute to shaping safer, more resilient, and longer‑lasting buildings across Manitoba and Western Canada. You’ll gain hands‑on exposure to building performance, restoration, capital planning, and investigative work—both in the office and in the field. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, curiosity, and the opportunity to explore different environments.
Your Impact
Conduct building condition assessments and prepare clear, detailed reserve fund studies and building condition reports used by condominium corporations, property managers, and building owners.
Develop capital plans that support long‑term decision‑making and responsible investment for diverse client groups.
Contribute to building and component investigation reports, design documentation, and technical appendices alongside seasoned building sciences professionals.
Prepare remediation packages that include specifications and drawings to be issued to Contractors.
Participate in building envelope reviews, restoration assessments, site investigations, and condition verifications.
Perform non‑invasive investigations that may involve ladders, heights, confined spaces, and detailed field measurements.
Visit active construction sites to document observations, verify compliance, and collect field test results.
Enhance the team’s knowledge systems by sharing insights, lessons learned, and best practices.
Travel for short‑term field assignments within and outside Manitoba, including occasional overnight stays, to support clients across Western Canada.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Post‑secondary education in Engineering Technology, Building Sciences, Architectural Science, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Eligibility or registration with CTTAM or EGM.
Experience in drafting using AutoCAD or Revit.
Foundational knowledge of building materials, construction processes, building envelope systems, and mechanical/electrical components.
Ability to interpret drawings, collect field data, and synthesize findings into clear and concise reports.
Comfortable working in varied field environments and performing hands‑on investigative tasks.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience in consulting engineering, building assessments, or restoration work is considered an asset.
