The technician provides technical support by receiving and processing laboratory specimens and requisitions according to standard operating procedures. They are also responsible for entering test data into the computer system and responding to phone inquiries.
A high school diploma or GED is required, with an associate degree in chemistry or biology preferred. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, keyboarding proficiency, and ideally hold an MLA certification.

Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Education preferred: Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of chemistry and 6 semester hours of biology preferred.
License, certification and/or registration: MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred
Experience: Previous work experience strongly preferred. Keyboarding experience, 40 wpm preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Candidate must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced, customer service oriented environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Able to work in a high stress environment with little/no downtime. Must be able to work in a team setting and maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Absolute integrity and accuracy in patient identification process. Position may require flexibility related to the end of shift as shift end time may vary with workload.
