1. SUMMARY
The Joint Intelligence and Security Division (JISD) has two main missions: to provide strategic intelligence to NATO HQ decision makers and to protect NATO’s personnel, information, and physical assets. JISD’s Intelligence pillar, comprised of both military and civilian personnel, is responsible for ensuring the situational awareness of the North Atlantic Council (NAC), the Military Committee (MC) and the senior-level decision-makers on strategic issues of concern. Its functional areas address intelligence analysis and production, intelligence policy, and intelligence capability development. JISD’s Security pillar is responsible for the overall coordination of NATO security among member Nations, NATO civil and military bodies as well as International Organisations and partner countries with which NATO cooperates. It is also responsible for the security of the NATO Headquarters (HQ), its personnel, information, physical assets, and for the protection of the Secretary General. Within the Intelligence Production Unit (IPU), the Production Support Office (PSO) is responsible for developing an Open-Source exploitation capability, and both the development and maintenance of Tradecraft and Editorial support to intelligence production. The incumbent will provide analytical support to all branches of the JISD/IPU and will transform complex data into insightful visual representations to best support the intelligence analysis. This includes establishing a close, collaborative working relationship with JISD/IPU Analysts to best support intelligence analysis. Additional tasks will include administrative support to the unit and supporting the coordination of meetings and events with NATO members and other intelligence services.
2. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The incumbent must: • possess higher secondary education qualification with 4 years post-related experience, or upper vocational training/post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline coupled with 2 years of post-related experience; • possess demonstrable experience working with analytical tools, like PowerBI, and visualisation software; • possess strong written, editing and analytical skills in order to visualise data and present clear and concise information; • be able to multi-task several high-priority projects; • possess the following minimum levels of NATO’s official languages (English/French): V (“Advanced”) in one; I (“Beginner”) in the other.
The following would be considered an advantage: • have experience within a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural working environment; • have experience with supporting committees, multi-year projects, conferences and trainings, or financial project; and • have a higher level of the NATO official languages.
3. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Knowledge Management: Oversee the efficient flow of information for the assigned team by collecting, categorising, tracking and visualising relevant information. Subsequently presenting this information as an integrated aspect of the final analysis. Retrieve and distribute relevant information and documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain and update document repositories and intranet pages as required. Contribute to the development and implementation of relevant courses of action to mitigate strategic threats to NATO through the timely drafting, editing, completion, and presentation of intelligence products.
Stakeholder Management: Act as a primary point of contact for data analysis and visualisation requests. Coordinate work and relations with the relevant colleagues to ensure the efficient planning and oversight of all infographic activities undertaken and/or supported by the PSO. Liaise with other IPU personnel in order to leverage knowledge and share best practices.
Expertise Development: Provide constructive suggestions to improve office procedures. Proactively develop skills that will create more efficiencies in managing information and using office tools. Coordinate the development of best practice and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding data visualisation in the IPU.
Perform any other related duty as assigned.
4. INTERRELATIONSHIPS
Reporting Line: Under the general direction of the Head, Production Support Office (PSO), the Assistant, Analytical Support, will report to the Production Manager. Interactions: The incumbent will work closely with the PSO team, JISD/IPU Analysts, and NATO entities as required.

6. CONTRACT
Contract to be offered to the successful applicant (if non-seconded): Definite duration contract of three years’ duration; possibility of an indefinite duration contract thereafter.
Contract clause applicable: In accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations, the successful candidate will receive a definite duration contract of three years, which may be followed by an indefinite duration contract.
If the successful applicant is seconded from the national administration of one of NATO’s member States, a 3-year definite duration contract will be offered, which may be renewed for a further period of up to 3 years subject to the agreement of the national authority concerned. The maximum period of service in the post as a seconded staff member is six years.
Serving staff will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.
NOTE: Irrespective of previous qualifications and experience, candidates for twin-graded posts will be appointed at the lower grade. These circumstances are described in the IS directive on twin-graded posts.
