Job Posting Details
The HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School (FYTGS) is the university-wide office to oversee the entire administrative scope for postgraduate (PG) education. It partners with academic units and other stakeholders to ensure consistent policy and quality control over all PG programs. This includes coordinating student recruitment and admissions, as well as providing all-round oversight on PG students’ qualifications, graduation, and any other areas related to PG affairs.
Reporting to the Head of Postgraduate Outreach and Admissions, the appointee should be of high calibre and self-motivated, and will perform a wide range of administrative duties in regard to the effective operation of student recruitment and admissions matters, including but not limited to:
handling student admissions and special schemes;
preparing guidelines, manuals and schedules in compliance with academic requirements, policies and regulations;
coordinating the development and enhancement of information systems to support admissions operations;
conducting data analysis to inform outreach decisions and strategy/policy making;
organizing student recruitment and enrichment activities;
developing and composing marketing materials;
providing secretarial support to committees; and
communicating with stakeholders and handling inquiries.
Applicants should have a recognized bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant work experience. Experience in student admissions in the higher education sector would be an advantage. Candidates with less experience may be considered for the position of Officer. The ideal candidate should be a solution-driven and proactive person who can produce quality work under pressure and tight timelines, and demonstrate the ability to work with stakeholders at different levels and with different backgrounds. Essential qualities include excellent communication skills (written and verbal, in English, Chinese and Putonghua) to articulate ideas and thoughts clearly in a logical and organized manner, good computer literacy, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to perform multi-tasks and work independently as well as in a team. Experience in data management, data analysis and programming would be an advantage. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Shortlisted candidates would be invited for an interview and a written test.
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
