About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (8-10 years PQE) to join our award-winning Legal & Governance team on parental leave contract for 6-12 months commencing in October. Our busy team members are trusted advisors who collaborate closely with our businesses across ANZ, UK, Asia and US, using passion, expertise and commercial judgment to drive optimal outcomes for our business teams, partners and fans.
Based in our Sydney CBD office (hybrid), you will focus on contracting, commercial and regulatory advisory work to support our live entertainment events and ticketing operations, as well as make an impact across privacy/data, e-commerce, IP, dispute resolution, and various strategic and compliance initiatives. You will collaborate with, and mentor, several brilliant team members who work together to support our global operations.

Outcomes to deliver
No day is ever the same and that's the way we like it! Reporting to the Group General Counsel & Company Secretary, your responsibilities will include:
Commercial Contracting & Business Partnering: Draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements (including with artists, venues, sponsors, SaaS and technology providers and suppliers) while providing strategic legal input on new product launches and business initiatives.
Dispute Resolution & Litigation Management: Lead the resolution of commercial and consumer disputes, managing ad hoc litigation matters in collaboration with internal customer solutions teams and external legal counsel.
Regulatory Affairs & Risk Management: Manage relationships with key regulators and law enforcement (e.g., ASIC, ACCC, ACMA, Police) and proactively identify legal risks to ensure business-wide adherence to group policies and evolving legislative requirements.
Training & Culture: Cultivate a culture of compliance and continuous learning by developing & delivering legal training programs, instituting preventative risk measures, and supervising and mentoring junior team members.
Intellectual Property & Brand Protection: Oversee the protection and enforcement of the group’s extensive IP portfolio to safeguard global brand assets and proprietary technology.
Capabilities you will bring:
Admitted as a legal practitioner in NSW (or other Australian State).
8+ years’ PQE within a corporate/commercial department of a large/ boutique law firm and/or similar in-house experience, preferably within a live entertainment business.
Subject matter expertise in privacy, data sharing, e-commerce, technology contracts and consumer law.
Experience in managing and resolving commercial and regulatory disputes across Australia (eg Fair Trading and Consumer Affairs bodies, and in tribunals such as NCAT and VCAT).
Excellent commercial skills honed for negotiating and advising on contracts in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Strong commercial acumen and communication skills.
Highly efficient, organised, comfortable prioritising competing requests and willingness to work flexibly across timezones, as required.
Naturally curious with a strong desire to learn and develop yourself, as well as team members.
Continuous improvement mindset always looking for innovative ways to work and resolve problems.
Confidence liaising directly with a wide range of stakeholders.
