Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care by floating across various oncology acute care units to cover staffing deficits and overflow. Manage patient care plans and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety and continuity of care.
Requires a valid Oregon RN license, BLS certification, and at least 3 years of recent oncology experience in acute or outpatient settings. Candidates must hold a BSN or ADN (with a commitment to obtain a BSN) and possess specific oncology provider qualifications or certifications.
OHSU Oncology Float Pool nurses provide high-quality, innovative and compassionate family-centered nursing care. Oncology Float Pool nurses support acute care units for selected planned and unplanned absences and for other staffing deficits. Oncology Float Pool nurses also staff overflow areas as patient care needs arise.
The RN must meet one oncology provider qualification:
1. ONS Chemotherapy/ Biotherapy provider card upon hire.
2. Oregon Health and Science University NCI Collaborative Systemic Cancer Therapies for the Oncology Nurse course.
3. Oregon Health and Science University NCI Collaborative 2-year renewal course.
The RN must hold one Professional certification or meet Commission on Cancer education requirements:
1. Current cancer-specific certification in the nurse’s specialty (OCN or TCTCN) by an accredited certification program.
2. Completion of 18 cancer-related continuing education nursing contact hours each accreditation cycle, per Commission on Cancer requirements.
