Responsibilities
The Senior Cloud Architect serves as the technical authority for multi-cloud platforms, leading the design, standards, and governance of secure and scalable environments. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into efficient cloud solutions while overseeing operational readiness and architectural transitions.
Requirements
Candidates must have 8-10 years of experience in cloud architecture with extensive expertise in Azure, AWS, and GCP ecosystems. A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field is required, along with strong proficiency in infrastructure automation tools and multi-cloud networking.
Full job description
Xplore Inc. is Canada’s fibre, 5G and satellite broadband company for rural living. Xplore is committed to the relentless pursuit of an improved broadband experience for all Canadians. Xplore is building a world-class fibre optic and 5G wireless network to enable innovative broadband services for better every day rural living, for today and future generations.
The Senior Cloud Architect is the technical authority and design owner for Xplore’s multi-cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP). This role leads the architecture, standards, and evolution of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments that support business growth and operational reliability. Working closely with application, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders, the Senior Cloud Architect ensures multi-cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) are well governed, cost‑effective, and aligned with enterprise and regulatory requirements. This role enables Digital and GTM teams through cloud platform architecture, standards, and governance and does not own product roadmaps or business outcomes. This includes ownership of enterprise cloud landing zone design and configuration (identity, networking, security, and governance baselines).
This is a senior individual contributor role. The Senior Cloud Architect provides leadership through technical authority, architecture reviews, standards definition, and operational transition ownership rather than direct people management.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Engage with internal stakeholders to capture business requirements and translate them into secure, scalable, and cost‑efficient cloud solutions
Contribute to defining and maintaining cloud architecture standards and design strategies
Assess current cloud technologies and ensure alignment with business goals and efficiency targets
Facilitate the transition of Digital and GTM solutions from sandbox or development environments into production by defining architectural requirements, governance controls, and operational readiness criteria, ensuring clear handoff to operations
Provide architectural leadership and guidance for deployment of complex cloud solutions, with hands‑on technical involvement where required to ensure alignment with platform standards and operational readiness
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and managed partners to deliver standardized cloud services
Provide architectural oversight for cloud migration initiatives, including standards definition, design review, and optimization guidance in partnership with delivery teams
Participate in architecture and change governance forums
Application, Platform, and Digital/GTM Teams – Requirements capture and solution delivery support
Security Teams – Identity, access management, and compliance alignment
Infrastructure and Network Teams – Platform integration and dependencies
Operations Teams – Service readiness, support models, and operational transition
Vendors and Managed Service Partners – Architecture support and delivery enablement
An Ideal Candidate will Possess:
Extensive experience across Azure, AWS, and GCP services including compute, storage, networking, and platform services
Strong background in cloud architecture best practices including high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery
Experience with cloud migration strategies and tools
Expertise in Azure architecture, automation (IaC/CI‑CD), identity, networking, and security best practices
Deep understanding of multi-cloud networking (VNet/VPC design, peering, private endpoints, segmentation, hybrid connectivity, and firewalling)
Experience implementing policy frameworks including Azure Policy, AWS SCPs, and GCP Organization Policies
Experience integrating FinOps considerations into architecture decisions
Strong experience producing high- and low-level architectural designs across multi-cloud ecosystems (Azure, AWS, GCP)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Telecommunications industry experience (nice to have but not required)
8–10 years of experience in a Cloud Architect or similar role
Experience architecting cloud infrastructure with multi‑cloud exposure
Experience providing technical leadership or leading teams in a matrixed or advisory capacity
Experience building cloud governance models, standards, and architectural frameworks
5–7+ years of hands‑on cloud architecture and design experience in large, distributed enterprise environments.
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
Condition of Employment:
As a condition of employment and in order to comply with industry related data security standards, this position is subject to the successful completion of a Criminal Background Check. Details will be supplied to applicants as they move through the selection process.
Xplore is committed to creating an accessible environment and will accommodate disabilities during the selection process. Please let your recruiter know during the selection process of any accommodation needs.
