The Personal Support Worker provides personal care and hygiene assistance to clients while supporting their physical, social, and emotional needs. They must ensure a safe environment in accordance with resident-centred care standards and organizational philosophy.
Candidates must have completed an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario and hold a current CPR certificate. Registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) is preferred.
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.
Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent
Experience in long term care setting an asset
Current CPR Certificate
Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage
Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player
Behavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an asset
Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office). Basic knowledge of Workday an asset.
Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset
Additional Information
Working Conditions:
Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending
Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact.
Ability to work night shifts, including weekends and short shifts. May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices
This is a temporary full time position for 3 months

The Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation is the fundraising, communications and public relations arm of the Yee Hong community. The Foundation raises funds to cover the operational expenses of services and programs of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care and the capital to build new Centres. Our fundraising efforts include soliciting major donations from philanthropists and corporations, and canvassing support from organizations, small businesses, professionals and individuals in various communities. We also run major events annually to raise funds, including the Dragon Ball black tie gala to celebrate Chinese New Year; the Dragon Raffle; the Yee Hong Telethon; the Yee Hong Earth Walk; and the Yee Hong Golf Classic tournament.
