Responsibilities
Provide strategic executive oversight across multiple large-scale commercial construction projects to ensure safety, quality, and client satisfaction. Lead and develop senior field management teams while implementing regional operational standards and best practices.
Requirements
Requires 12-18 years of commercial construction field experience, including 5-7 years in senior leadership roles. A bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering is preferred, along with OSHA 30 certification and proficiency in BIM/VDC tools.
This is an evergreen talent-pipeline posting open across all six Samet offices — not a specific, currently open position.
Great careers rarely start with perfect timing. That’s why we like to meet strong field operations leaders before a seat opens up. Applying here puts you on our radar across all six Samet offices—so when the right opportunity fits, whether that’s now or a few months down the road, we already know you and you already know us. No perfect timing required; we’d just love to start the conversation.
Field operations leadership at Samet is where construction expertise meets executive impact. In these roles, you provide strategic oversight across multiple complex projects and the field teams that deliver them—driving safety, quality, schedule, and client satisfaction at a regional scale, and ensuring The Samet Way is lived consistently on every site.
You’ll lead and develop senior field talent, partner with preconstruction and business development to win and deliver major work, and represent Samet with our most important clients. If you’ve built a career in the field and you’re ready to shape how an entire region builds and who builds it, this is that seat.
Levels & Experience
This posting covers our senior field operations leadership roles. We’ll align title and scope to your experience:
Field Executive — The highest level of field operations leadership on major projects and strategic accounts, providing executive oversight to Senior Superintendents and project teams across multiple large, complex projects. Typically 12–18 years of commercial construction field experience, including 5–7 in senior superintendent or field leadership roles.
Director of Field Operations — Owns the strategy, standards, and performance of all field operations within a region, leading Field Executives, Senior Superintendents, and field teams. Typically 12–18 years of field operations experience, including 5–7 in senior field leadership; expect 40–60% travel across the region.
What You’ll Do
Provide strategic leadership and executive oversight across multiple large-scale, complex projects, ensuring delivery excellence, safety performance, and client satisfaction.
Develop and implement regional field operations strategy, standards, protocols, and best practices, reinforcing The Samet Way (TSW).
Lead and develop senior field management — Field Executives, Senior Superintendents, Superintendents, and Assistant Superintendents — through hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
Establish, monitor, and report field operations goals and performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective action.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement through advanced construction methods, lean principles, and technology adoption (BIM/VDC, digital field tools).
Partner with preconstruction, project management, and business development on winning approaches, constructability reviews, and value engineering for major pursuits.
Serve as the senior field operations interface with strategic clients and on high-profile project delivery.
Lead complex problem-solving and crisis management — schedule recovery, quality issues, safety incidents, and stakeholder conflicts.
Champion regional safety culture and zero-incident performance; ensure compliance with OSHA and corporate standards across all projects.
Oversee quality management and assurance across all regional field operations.
Optimize resource allocation, schedule coordination, and cross-project knowledge sharing across multiple sites.
Build strategic relationships with trade contractors, suppliers, and industry partners, and represent Samet at industry and client events.
Drive workforce development and succession planning, building career pathways from Field Engineer through Field Executive.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent extensive experience considered.
12–18 years of progressive commercial construction field operations experience, with 5–7 years in senior field leadership (Senior Superintendent, Field Executive, or similar).
Proven track record delivering multiple large, complex projects ($20M+) simultaneously, on time and within budget.
Experience across multiple delivery methods (Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, CM at Risk, IPD) and building types.
Expertise in advanced construction technologies — BIM, VDC, and digital project and field management tools.
Strong knowledge of construction regulations, OSHA safety standards, quality management systems, and environmental compliance.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills with senior clients, architects, engineers, and officials.
An established industry network and experience in succession planning and developing field talent at all levels.
Professional certifications preferred (CCM, PMP, OSHA 30, LEED AP, or similar).
Additional Requirements
Physical Demands: This role requires the physical ability to navigate multiple active construction sites — including climbing stairs, walking on uneven surfaces, and working in varying weather conditions — along with office work for strategic planning and coordination. Regular travel between project sites across the region is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Environment: A combination of active construction sites in various stages of completion across the region and a professional office environment, with exposure to typical construction site hazards. Regular travel between multiple project sites is required (40–60% for the Director of Field Operations). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency in construction-specific software including project management systems, scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project), BIM/VDC platforms, and document management systems; expert-level Microsoft Office 365; comfort with mobile field-reporting and virtual collaboration tools.
Math Ability: Advanced analytical capabilities, including complex project scheduling, resource optimization, cost analysis, and productivity calculations, with the ability to analyze multi-project and regional performance metrics and develop strategic recommendations.
Reasoning Ability: Superior strategic thinking and problem-solving, with the ability to assess complex regional field operations scenarios, anticipate challenges, develop innovative solutions, and make sound judgments under pressure.
Certificates and Licenses: A valid driver’s license is required. OSHA 30 certification required. Additional certifications in construction management, safety, or quality (e.g., CCM, LEED AP) preferred. Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening as required by company policy.

Founded by Norman Samet in 1961, Samet Corporation quickly became known for its unwavering commitment to client satisfaction and high ethical standards. Our capabilities have grown, but our values haven't changed.
In the 1970’s we began to construct speculative industrial buildings. This experience taught us how to "think like an owner." Our project teams focus on the owner's objectives and financial goals throughout the planning and financing phase to develop creative approaches that enable clients to make their vision a reality.
Through the '80s and '90s Samet continued to grow across the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, expanding beyond industrial buildings to serve clients in other commercial segments. One measure of Samet’s success is our volume of loyal clients who continue to partner with us on their construction expansions and new facilities.
Arthur Samet joined the company in 1991 and succeeded his father as CEO in 2000. Under Arthur's leadership, we have diversified from our commercial/industrial roots into high-growth segments such as multi-family housing, education, healthcare and technology, and we have continued our expansion into the Southeast.
Samet Corporation provides the experience, resources, and structured processes of a large company combined with the responsiveness, management accessibility, and personalized service of a small company.
