General Purpose
At the University of Guelph, our students benefit greatly from engaging directly in industries and communities where they can apply their learning in real-world contexts, develop essential employability skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the complex issues faced by employers and community organizations today.
The Experiential Learning Hub collaborates with industry and community partners to provide experiential learning opportunities that enable students to apply and advance their learning in a real-world context.
The Work Experience (WEX) program is designed for all students in a WEX-approved academic program to have an opportunity to receive preparation and support from the Experiential Learning Hub (EL Hub) to participate in one paid work experience in a vocational setting related to their career goals during their degree program.
WEX Coordinators assume complete marketing responsibility and student advisement for WEX program(s) as assigned and actively recruit and engage employers to hire WEX students each fall, winter, and summer semester. These activities raise the profile of the University of Guelph and guide students’ success in the WEX program.
