Position Summary
The Registered Nurse Coordinator is a key clinical leadership role within the Endocrinology Service Line, responsible for overseeing the RN Triage team and Medical Assistants across multiple outpatient locations. This position combines clinical expertise, operational leadership, and care coordination to ensure exceptional patient outcomes, efficient workflow management, and adherence to best practices.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and proactive nursing leader with strong ambulatory care experience, excellent critical-thinking skills, and a passion for mentoring staff while driving clinical excellence across the service line.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Team Management
Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the RN Triage team and Medical Assistants across the Endocrinology service line.
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement.
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing and support staff.
Conduct regular rounding at clinic locations to support staff, address operational challenges, and promote consistent clinical practices.
Care Coordination & Patient Services
Coordinate and support triage operations to ensure timely, safe, and effective patient care.
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance care delivery and patient outcomes.
Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, medications, procedures, and disease management.
Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Operational & Quality Management
Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies, procedures, protocols, and workflows that support high-quality patient care.
Assist with the introduction and adoption of new clinical procedures and operational initiatives.
Monitor compliance with clinical standards, patient safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, patient access, and overall clinic performance.
Staff Development & Administrative Support
Partner with the Practice Manager in workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and staff retention efforts.
Contribute to employee performance evaluations, coaching, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary processes.
Support ongoing education, competency validation, and professional development initiatives for clinical staff.
Help ensure appropriate staffing coverage across clinic locations.
Qualifications
Degree from an accredited school of nursing and requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
Two years experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
Endocrinology experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and general knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.
Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area and familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.
Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
Sufficient knowledge to observe and assist in the assessment of patients, and to detect and report obvious.
and/or dangerous changes in the condition of patients.
Basic working understanding of the concepts of infection control principles to prevent the spread of infection to patients, self and others.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and general knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
Knowledge of principles of growth/development across the life span.
Requires ability to cope with varying personalities of patients.
Requires ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
Requires ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner.
Requires ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
