OUR MISSION
The mission of the Eastern Star Church ministry is evangelism and discipleship. We are committed to the great commission instituted by Jesus Christ. We are focused on ministering to the unsaved and nurturing and developing those that are saved (Matthew 28:18-20). Everything we have done is to live out this vision that the Lord has given to our church family. From adding ministries to staffing, from building facilities to adding programs, from stewardship to membership, it has all been for the purpose of being obedient to the commission of Christ.
YOUR ROLE IN OUR MISSION
The IGNiTE Coordinator is essential in the development of young disciples through our Christian education, discipleship, and community program offerings for children and teens including; Children and Teen Church, Youth Bible Study, Community Outreach Initiatives, Vacation Bible School, Annual Events, and a variety of other Eastern Star Church programs and initiatives focused on young people, ages 3 to 18. This includes the administrative aspects of ministry planning and execution such as record keeping, inventory management, budgeting, etc. In addition, the IGNiTE Coordinator is charged with assisting in the development of program offerings and experiences that uncover the spiritual gifts in children and teens, inspiring them to become actively engaged in the work and the mission of Jesus Christ. The IGNiTE Coordinator must adhere to the Discipleship Model.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Although this role is ministry and mission-focused, the primary responsibilities are geared toward effective management of the pertinent details of ministry planning. It requires an intentional focus on the administrative tasks associated with the effective ministry, anticipating changes in priority, consistently presenting a work product that is of excellence, and being abreast of current youth events, while remaining well-versed and knowledgeable of internal policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
Coming alongside the Campus Pastor, Youth Pastor, and campus ministry team to fulfill day-to-day responsibilities.
Attending IGNiTE Children and Teen ministry staff meetings and strategic planning sessions, providing appropriate input as a team member.
Assisting with planning and monitoring the day-to-day delivery of children and teen ministry programs and services, helping to improve overall quality and effectiveness.
Scheduling classes, programs, events, etc. in the Event Management System (EMS).
Using MS Office software and/or Mac publishing software, able to prepare oral and written reports as requested.
Assisting the staff in developing and monitoring budget expenditures and projections for each program and activity, as well as processing orders in alignment with the Department of Ministries’ purchase management procedures.
Helping to develop and utilize ministry assessment tools such as surveys and polls to track the progress and effectiveness of children and teen ministry programs.
Recruiting and developing strong relationships with an appropriate number of Ministry Assistants (volunteers) to assist with youth programming at the designated campus.
Overseeing setup, registration & check-in process for programs, services, and events.
Working with IGNiTE team to plan, prepare, and occasionally deliver lessons geared toward the children and teen population.
Collaborating with other departments as necessary for successful youth discipleship.
Assisting in the process of developing and training teens serving on the IGNiTE Teen Council and working with the Youth Pastor to coordinate and execute council meetings
Coordinating with the Communications Department for publication of brochures, calendars, flyers, newsletters, social media content, etc.
Handling multiple tasks simultaneously by developing an effective work plan that prioritizes and outlines outcomes and timelines.
Working swiftly to troubleshoot conflicts and other problems that may arise while understanding when to escalate issues and ensure that appropriate personnel is informed.
Assisting with logistics by receiving shipments, covering the reception desk, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND IDEAL CHARACTERISTICS
Purpose-driven leader with a heart for young people and families.
Background in Ministry, Education, or other related field.
Significant experience working directly with Gen. Z and Gen. Alpha.
Some college education is strongly preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Very organized with great attention to detail.
Forward-thinking individual with the ability to adapt and innovate. .
DESIRED RELATIONAL SKILLS:
A mature walk with Christ, evidenced by a strong and well-articulated testimony, consistency in personal spiritual discipline in public and in private, a commitment to moral purity, healthy relationships with others, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and community representatives.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with administration, supervisor, staff, volunteers, congregation, and the community. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals with the people it affects in mind. Ability to write routine reports and correspondences, professionally as well as interpersonally.
Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups. Ability to effectively read, interpret, and present information to top management, the congregation, volunteers, and the community.
Ability to think critically, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and approaches to problems. Innate ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment while being flexible.
