JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Direction- Provides leadership for team initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with departmental goals. Collaborates with directors, supervisors, and peers to implement operational strategies, including preventive maintenance and resource allocation. Manages personnel and promotes accountability and continuous improvement within the team while supporting professional development. Makes sound decisions to optimize day-to-day performance. Meets requirements of manager expectations.
Performance & Professional Development-Applies industry knowledge to daily operations and promotes team development through mentoring and cross-training. Identifies improvement opportunities and implements best practices within the team. Manages workforce planning and performance for direct reports, ensuring compliance with policies and Facilities Maintenance procedures while fostering a culture of accountability and growth. Participates in the development and monitoring of an effective staffing and retention strategy, including hiring, onboarding, and terminating employees. Partners with Facilities Maintenance leadership and HR to ensure effective performance management of direct reports. Mentors and provide learning and development opportunities for direct reports.
Project & Operational Management -Manages day-to-day scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with assigned teams. Oversees routine maintenance and repair activities, monitors project timelines, and communicates effectively with stakeholders. Reviews work for accuracy and safety, supports commissioning activities, vendor reports, and conducts rounding to ensure quality and adherence to facilities maintenance procedures and regulatory standards.
Communication & Collaboration -Implements departmental policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and efficient environment for patients, families, and staff. Communicates organizational values and educates staff through daily interactions. Monitors facilities operations, reports issues promptly, and manages day-to-day systems. Supports continuous improvement by identifying problems and implementing solutions within the team.
Vendor & Financial Management - Oversees vendor coordination for maintenance needs, process updates, and timely communication with stakeholders to minimize disruption to medical center operations. Analyzes, tests, and implements equipment repairs and replacements, ensuring quality and continuity of services. Collaborates with leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate department's annual and capital budgets, maintaining robust financial controls and compliance with organizational policies. Evaluates workload and ability to complete work internally before engaging vendor.
Technical & Regulatory Expertise -Implements departmental policies and procedures, monitors adherence to safety and infection control practices, and maintains accurate documentation. Oversees preventative maintenance programs and spot-checks work for quality and compliance. Promotes a safe environment and supports required training programs for staff.
