About Us:
The Prenatal Screening department is a Case Coordination Center for the California Prenatal Screening Program, which is part of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Participation in the program is offered by prenatal care providers to all pregnant individuals in California. Prenatal screening uses a pregnant individual’s blood samples to screen for certain birth defects in their fetus.
Coordinators call clinicians and patients and review Prenatal Screening (PNS) blood test results requiring follow-up,facilitatethe referral of patients with confirmed positive results to state-approved Prenatal Diagnosis Centers (PDCs),monitorthe patients until follow-up services are completed, and perform clinician education in the assigned region. Thecoordinatorsalsofacilitatespecimen tracking with GDSP clinical laboratories, as well as provide consultation on program processes and case management protocols.
Job Summary:
The Prenatal Screening Program (PNS) is a statewide Program for the detection of specific birth defects. The PNS Coordinator is responsible for follow up on all cases assigned to Case Coordination Center (CCC) site 45 on a daily basis by the Genetic Disease Screening Program (GDSP) of the California Department of Public Health. Responsibilities include overseeing the daily report, communication with and reporting results to ordering clinicians, following up on referrals to assigned prenatal diagnostic centers, and entering computer data. Providing educational in-services to the public and to prenatal health care professionals is also required.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelors Degree AND Registered Nurse (RN); AND experience in Obstetrics, Maternal Child Health or Public Health (required) Or
Masters Degree Graduate of Genetic Counseling program or
Health related Master's Degree; AND two (2) years experience with Prenatal, Maternal Child Health, or Genetic Services. (required)
Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing For RNs: Bachelor's degree and CA RN licensure (required) Or
ABGC - Board Certified Status - ABGC - American Board Genetic Counselors For Genetic Counselors: Board Certified or Board Eligible status (required) Or
