Position Title: Accounting Manager HV-MC-8753 Department: Finance/Comptroller’s Office Reports to: Associate Comptroller Employment Status: Full-time, salaried Range: $70,000-$75,000
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. The college is a recognized leader in career and transfer preparation, workforce training initiatives, distance learning and service to a diverse population of students. Hudson Valley has an extension center in Malta, NY known as HVCC North and sponsors the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center in Troy, NY. With more than 80,000 alumni and nearly 1,000 employees, the college and is a catalyst for educational opportunity and economic development in the Capital Region of New York State.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT To be considered, an applicant will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university; five years of experience in analysis, maintaining financial accounts and records, proficiency with Microsoft Office products, strong interpersonal communication, and strong organizational skills required. Master’s degree, experience with Ellucian Banner and not-for-profit fund accounting, and experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF DUTIES The Accounting Manager reports to the Associate Comptroller or his/her designee and performs the following duties:
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close. • Develop and maintain financial record keeping and reporting systems. • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; assist with regulatory reporting as applicable. • Prepare and review appropriate ledger entries and monthly reconciliations. • Maintain general ledger system. • Review monthly prepaid and fixed asset roll forwards and related schedules. • Assist with completion of the State’s Annual Operating report. • Prepare, review and analyze statistical and financial reports for internal (College) or external (Federal, State, etc.) distribution/submission. • Review bank reconciliations and corporate credit card reconciliations. • Assist with the quarterly review and annual external audit. • Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and procedures. • Research accounting issues for compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). • Complete annual calculations for auditors to include vacation accrual and termination benefits. • Prepare documents and work directly with the college’s actuary. • Manages Plant Fund. • As Assistant Treasurer (upon approval by BOT on annual basis) assumes responsibility for the authorization of college-wide disbursements, wire-transfers, etc. • Additional duties, as assigned.
This is a full-time 12-month Management Confidential (M.C.) position with a salary range of $70,000-$75,000.

HVCC also has a generous leave policy. If you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization, you may be eligible for the PSLF Program. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans.
