Prepare detailed electrical drawings, control schematics, and wiring diagrams for new or modified substations and switchyards. Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure project details are accurately reflected and compile bills of material for procurement.
Requires an associate's degree in design, engineering technology, or a related field and proficiency in PC-based drafting software like MicroStation or AutoCAD. Candidates must pass technical aptitude tests and be able to maintain NERC and FERC certifications.
Under the direct supervision of a design engineer, design supervisor, lead design technician, or other higher classified design technician, prepares a variety of drawings including electrical arrangements, control schematic diagrams, connection, one-lines, wiring diagrams and drawings required for the design of new or major modifications to existing substations and switchyards. Prepares construction drawings, control circuitry drawings, arrangement drawings, design details, and assembles bills of material. Assures that all concepts and project details are accurately reflected in the drawings he/she produces.
This position requires the applicant to have either working knowledge or an understanding of electrical wiring diagram, panel layout and engineering drawings.
Must have working experience using CAD Software such as MicroStation or AutoCAD. Must have an associate's degree or higher in the Computer Aided Drafting and Design field or similar too. Have an understanding of Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Engineering Drawings and Panel Layouts. Is able to complete field site visits and carry equipment as needed for field red line markups and electrical wiring sketches.
