Procon is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to support the successful delivery of large, complex public-sector construction projects. This position will provide comprehensive project management oversight throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design through procurement, construction, and closeout.
The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional with a strong background managing large-scale public-sector projects valued at $20 million or more, including convention centers, municipal or state facilities, government buildings, or comparable complex facilities.
This position does not offer employment visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field required.
Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible construction project management experience, with a strong background in large public-sector projects.
Demonstrated experience managing construction projects with values exceeding $20 million.
Experience with convention centers, state or municipal buildings, government facilities, or similarly complex construction projects strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of public-sector procurement processes, construction contracting, and project reporting requirements.
Working knowledge of project delivery methods, including CM-at-Risk, Design-Bid-Build, and Design-Build.
Strong understanding of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, schedules, cost controls, and change management.
Knowledge of applicable building codes, construction standards, and state and federal requirements.
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to effectively coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and other project stakeholders.
Responsibilties and Duties
Lead and support the planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout phases of major construction projects.
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, cost, quality, and overall performance to ensure established project objectives are achieved.
Coordinate and oversee architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other project team members.
Develop, review, and monitor project budgets, cost estimates, forecasts, schedules, and cash flow projections.
Monitor construction progress and provide clear and timely project status reports to clients and key stakeholders.
Review design drawings, specifications, construction documents, and contractor submittals for constructability, coordination, and compliance with contract requirements.
Ensure construction activities comply with applicable codes, standards, contract requirements, and state and federal regulations.
Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation and resolution strategies.
Administer construction contracts and support the review and resolution of change orders, claims, requests for information, and other contractual matters.
Facilitate coordination among design teams, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
Support quality assurance and quality control efforts throughout design and construction.
Oversee project closeout activities, including punch lists, final documentation, contract requirements, and turnover.
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular onsite presence in an active construction environment. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
Walking and standing for extended periods while performing site observations and inspections.
Navigating active construction areas, including stairs, uneven surfaces, temporary walkways, and varying elevations.
Occasionally bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as necessary to observe construction activities.
Accessing mechanical, electrical, utility, process, and other construction areas as required.
Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with all applicable site safety requirements.
Working in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to typical construction-site conditions, including noise, dust, weather, and temperature fluctuations.
