Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Manager of Custodial Services, this position will assist with the moving and event setup and breakdown operations of the University.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist and complete campus moves and event setups.
• Enter time into integrated facilities management system.
• Assist in the proper handling of surplus property for re-use and recycling.
• Ensure that vehicles and equipment used for moving purposes are properly maintained.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

• CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,461 (Step 1) - $4,752 (Step 17) per month.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This position has experience supporting campus moving and logistics operations and is skilled in safely operating a variety of vehicles and equipment, including electric carts, trucks ranging from ½ ton to 3½ tons, forklifts, and specialized moving equipment. They are committed to maintaining required certifications, performing routine equipment maintenance, and making minor repairs as needed. This individual is capable of assembling and disassembling office furniture and fixtures, including desks and shelving systems, and is comfortable performing physically demanding work involving the loading, unloading, transportation, and relocation of furniture, freight, equipment, computers, and other materials both on and off campus. They demonstrate strong organizational skills by accurately tracking work assignments and time through facilities management systems, while also supporting surplus property recycling and reuse efforts. The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, and responsive to operational needs, with the ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. They take pride in contributing to University events, ceremonies, emergency response efforts, and other campus support services, while consistently maintaining a high level of safety, customer service, and teamwork.

Education and Experience

• Equivalent to a high school diploma and a solid work history required

• Equivalent to six months of experience as a trades assistant or laborer, or six months of hands-on experience in general facilities and systems maintenance and repair work preferred

Licenses / Certificates

• Valid California Driver’s License required. Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on University business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

• Certified forklift operator’s license preferred
