Full job description
Make the extraordinary, everlasting - with us.
At EC, we craft extraordinary experiences that leave a lasting impression - not just for our clients, but for our people too. We blend the big ideas of a creative agency with the meticulous execution of a production company, bringing bold, imaginative events to life.
We’re collaborative, down-to-earth, and serious about delivering quality - all while finding time for lightness and fun. If you’re someone who’s curious, adaptable and excited to do meaningful work with a team that’s got your back, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
The Head of Creative Services is the operational lead for the creative services team, responsible for defining how work flows through creative, design and content, and ensuring the function operates with clarity, efficiency and control.
You will set the direction for resource planning, workflow and performance, working through the Studio Manager to deliver this day to day. Acting as the central connector between project teams, creative leadership and content, you will ensure priorities are clear, decisions are made effectively, and the team is set up for success.
You will work in close partnership with the Executive Creative Director (ECD), Design Director and Head of Content to align creative ambition with operational delivery and ensure the right people are focused on the right work at the right time.
This is not a creative role. You do not define creative direction or design quality. Instead, you enable the team to deliver at their best, creating the structure, systems and clarity that allow creativity to thrive, in line with the model where this role runs the operational engine of the studio.
Who you are
You have strong experience in creative operations, resource management or studio leadership within a creative, agency or production environment
You understand how creative, design and content teams work and what they need to deliver high quality output
You are highly organised, structured and comfortable managing complex workflows
You are confident making prioritisation decisions and leading through others
You are a strong communicator who can align different stakeholders and bring clarity to ambiguity
You are commercially aware, with experience in utilisation, performance tracking or budgets
You are calm under pressure and able to maintain control in a fast-paced environment
Desirable experience
Experience as a Creative Services Manager, Creative Operations Manager or Studio Lead
Experience working across design, content and or production teams
Experience supporting senior creative leadership
Familiarity with resource planning tools and workflow systems
Experience in live events, brand experiences or creative production environments
Key responsibilities
Creative operations and workflow
Own and define the end to end workflow across creative, design and content
Set clear processes for briefing, prioritisation, delivery and handover
Provide direction on project flow and prioritisation, working through the Studio Manager to implement day to day
Intervene on escalations, resolving bottlenecks and competing priorities where required
Ensure visibility across all workstreams to align output with business priorities
Resource planning and capacity management
Own resource strategy and prioritisation across creative, design and content teams
Make final decisions on allocation and prioritisation of resource across projects and business needs
Set capacity planning approach and forecasting direction for the team
Work through the Studio Manager to execute scheduling, bookings and day to day resource allocation
Define freelance strategy, including when and how external resource is used, with Studio Manager managing sourcing and bookings
Leadership and Team Management
Provide direct line management to the Studio Manager, setting clear direction for workflow execution, scheduling and resource coordination
Provide direct line management and support to selected members of the creative team, contributing to their development, performance and growth
Lead and develop the Creative Services function, creating clarity, consistency and accountability across how the team operates
Support hiring, onboarding and team growth in partnership with the People Team
Build strong cross functional relationships across Creative, Content, Production and Account Management teams
Commercial and Performance Management
Support the ECD with creative function planning, including budget and P&L considerations
Partner directly with Finance to monitor budgets, track performance and ensure alignment with business targets
Own the KPI framework for the creative services function, defining what success looks like across utilisation, efficiency and delivery
Attend and contribute to KPI meetings, representing performance of the creative services team
Work through the Studio Manager to ensure accurate data capture and reporting inputs
Provide insight and direction to improve performance, efficiency and commercial outcomes
AI, Systems and Innovation
Own the operational integration of tools, systems and AI across the creative services function
Partner with the Data & Systems team to ensure tools are well selected, governed and effectively used across the team
Set direction for how tools and workflows should be used, with the Studio Manager supporting adoption and day to day management
Work closely with the ECD and Design Director to define where AI can enhance the creative process, supporting ideation, development and delivery while protecting creative craft and capability
Identify opportunities for AI and automation to improve efficiency, scalability and consistency
Ensure AI is implemented responsibly to enhance output and team performance, not reduce creative strength
Partnership with Creative Leadership
Enable the ECD to focus on vision, ideas and creative leadership by managing priorities, timing and visibility
Partner with the Design Director to define and embed effective ways of working
Work closely with the Head of Content to ensure alignment across creative and content output
Ensure creative leadership is involved at the right level and at the right time across projects
Act as the bridge between creative ambition and operational delivery
