Full job description
Dodge & Cox is looking for an AI Governance Program Manager to keep the firm’s cross-functional AI governance work organized, coordinated, and moving. This role sits within the AI Governance pillar, one of four pillars in the firm's AI operating model, with contributing cross-functional members from InfoSec, Legal, Risk, and Compliance, which protects the firm and our clients through proactive management of AI policy and procedures, regulatory alignment, and risk management.
Reporting to the AI Governance Pillar lead, this person will be responsible for driving progress across the pillar’s many workstreams: coordinating Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Information Security contributors; tracking deliverables and deadlines; and facilitating the processes that allow the firm to make timely, well-informed, well-documented decisions about AI use so the firm can deepen AI adoption across every function with confidence. This is one of two new roles in the pillar, alongside an AI Information Security Lead, and offers a real opportunity to shape governance processes as the firm's AI operating model matures.
Key Responsibilities
Manage governance workstreams end-to-end: track deliverables, deadlines, dependencies, and risks across the pillar’s policy and risk management initiatives
Coordinate governance reviews across Legal, Compliance, Risk, Information Security, and other stakeholders, ensuring outcomes are documented and issues are escalated through appropriate channels;
Facilitate the pillar’s decision-making process by preparing clear materials, ensuring the right stakeholders provide input, and driving discussions to resolution
Manage the policy-to-deployment review process for new AI tools, integrations, and capabilities in coordination with the Infrastructure pillar
Facilitate updates to policies, standards, procedures, and governance frameworks by identifying recurring governance issues and cross-functional decision patterns
Prepare governance updates and materials for the AI Steering Group
Maintain project documentation, status reporting, and a clear record of decisions
Qualifications
Required
5+ years in program or project management, with experience supporting governance- or risk-oriented initiatives
Experience designing, implementing, or maturing governance processes, operating models, or control frameworks.
Experience coordinating cross-functional stakeholders across legal, compliance, risk, and/or information security functions
Ability to navigate ambiguity, identify recurring patterns, and translate complex issues into governance solutions.
Exceptional written and verbal communication, including the ability to distill large amounts of information and frame communications for varied audience needs
High emotional intelligence with demonstrated ability to build trust, influence without authority, facilitate consensus, and drive commitment to outcomes
Strong organizational skills and the ability to oversee multiple projects, tasks, and interdependencies effectively
Demonstrated ability to proactively manage timelines and resources and mitigates risks
Preferred
Experience in regulated compliance-intensive environment, preferably asset management or financial services
Technical familiarity with AI concepts and tools and working knowledge of information security principles, data governance, and common control frameworks sufficient to facilitate informed governance discussions and evaluate whether deliverables meet governance requirements. Note: deep subject matter expertise is not required, as the pillar’s Legal, Compliance, Risk, and InfoSec members provide that depth
Exposure to AI governance, technology policy, or technology risk management
Program or project management credentials (e.g., PMP, PgMP)
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to AI

Our firm was founded in 1930 in the wake of the Roaring Twenties. In response to the speculative excesses of that era, our founders believed clients’ interests would be best served by a focused, long-term, valuation-aware investment strategy offered at reasonable and transparent fees.
That belief is as strong today as it’s ever been. We’re now one of the world’s largest independently owned investment firms. We manage money for individuals and institutions globally with a single, value-oriented investment philosophy applied across a focused set of offerings. Our focus means we put more resources behind fewer strategies, more passion behind fewer priorities, and more confidence behind every decision. Dodge & Cox is built on a bedrock of independent ownership, integrity, and client alignment—so we can serve our clients not just for decades, but for generations.
