The lab helper will assist with histological laboratory procedures including tissue processing, embedding, and slide printing. They are also responsible for equipment maintenance, data entry into inventory databases, and providing customer service.
Requirements
Candidates must be McGill students with active work-study eligibility and a high school diploma. Previous experience in a research or laboratory setting is preferred, along with strong organizational and teamwork skills.

GCI - Professor Katie Cockburn's Lab (Histology Innovation Platform)
Position Summary:
This is a work-study position. Only McGill Students with work-study confirmation letter covering the contract period will be eligible to apply.
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the lab helper will assist in performing laboratory tests and experiments such as:
Tissue Cassetting and Grossing
Tissue Processing
Tissue Embedding
Slide Printing
Quality Control
Distributes and tracks items, such as lab parcels and provides customer service when necessary.
Assists with equipment maintenance and lab operations; collects and enters data into established inventory databases.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Scientific background and knowledge.
Experience in a wet lab.
Experience in histological techniques preferred.
Organization, attention to detail and ability to work in a team are important for this position
Education & Experience:
High school diploma with minimal or no experience
Preference will be for candidates with some previous experience in research and/or laboratory settings
Candidate must be a McGill student with work-study eligibility.
