Full job description
Rental Specialist (Hourly)
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada | Store-Based Role
Be the reason every customer leaves with confidence and comes back.
About Us
OnSite Rentals is a growing tool and equipment rental company committed to putting the right equipment in the hands of the people who build, fix, and create — and to building the kind of team that makes that possible every single day. We are a people-first organization, and that means the experience we deliver to our customers starts with the experience we create for our team.
The Role
As a Rental Specialist, you are the face of our operation. You are on the front line of the customer experience — helping customers choose the right equipment, getting rentals out the door efficiently, and making sure every piece of equipment is clean, safe, and rental-ready. This role blends genuine customer engagement with hands-on equipment work, and it takes someone who is comfortable doing both well.
What You’ll Do
Here’s what a typical day involves:
Serving customers
Greet every customer with energy and genuine interest in helping them succeed with their project
Help customers select the right equipment, accessories, and solutions for their specific needs
Walk customers through safe operation, proper use, and what to watch for in the field
Handle check-in and check-out transactions accurately and efficiently
Build relationships with repeat customers and contractors who count on us to know their needs
Keeping the fleet rental-ready
Prepare and stage equipment for reservations and pickups
Inspect returned equipment thoroughly for damage, wear, and safety compliance
Clean and “turn” equipment quickly so it’s available for the next customer
Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs to keep the fleet in top condition
Maintain accurate fleet status in the rental management system
Keeping the centre running well
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe rental area
Follow all safety procedures and ensure every rental meets safety compliance before it goes out
Support efficient workflows, assist with inventory, and communicate clearly with teammates
Coordinate with the Rental Centre Manager and Mobile Field Technicians as needed
What We Offer
Competitive hourly pay with overtime eligibility
Performance-based incentives tied to store success
Training on tools, equipment, and rental systems
Clear growth path to manager or technician roles
Annual uniform allowance
Health and dental benefits
What We’re Looking For
You bring
1–3 years of customer-facing experience — retail, rental, or similar
A natural ability to connect with people and make them feel looked after
Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment
A strong work ethic and proactive approach
Attention to detail
Basic computer skills for rental system entry and fleet tracking
The physical capability to safely lift 50+ lbs and work in an active, hands-on environment
A valid Ontario driver’s licence (G class)
You are
Genuinely people-oriented — you enjoy helping others and it shows
Dependable — your team and customers know they can count on you
Curious about equipment and motivated to keep learning
Calm under pressure and adaptable when the pace picks up
Compensation
Hourly Rate: CAD $20 - $25 / hour
Overtime eligible
Commission / Bonus: Tied to store performance and customer experience
