Why YOU want this position
At Enverus, we’re committed to empowering the global quality of life by helping our customers make energy affordable and accessible to the world.
We are the most trusted energy-dedicated SaaS company, with a platform built to maximize value from generative AI, and our innovative solutions are reshaping the way energy is consumed and managed. By offering anytime, anywhere access to analytics and insights, we’re helping our customers make better decisions that help provide communities around the world with clean, affordable energy.
The energy industry is changing fast. But we’ve continued to lead the way in energy technology, creating intelligent connections across the entire energy ecosystem, from renewables, power and utilities to oil and gas and financial institutions. Our solutions create more efficient production and distribution, capital allocation, renewable energy development, investment and sourcing, and help reduce costs by automating crucial business operations. Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without our people, which is why we have built a team of individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Are you ready to help power the global quality of life? Join Enverus, and be a part of creating a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow.
As the technical leader for market modeling, you will define and drive the analytical capabilities that power our Market Management System.
You'll partner with Product Management and Engineering to translate customer needs into sophisticated optimization models, forecasting capabilities, and production software.
Responsibilities include:
Lead the design and evolution of large-scale fundamental power market models.
Define the mathematical and analytical approaches behind new product capabilities.
Develop optimization, forecasting, and simulation methodologies for nodal electricity markets.
Collaborate closely with software engineers to ensure models are scalable, performant, and production-ready.
Work directly with customers and product managers to understand market problems and translate them into commercial solutions.
Guide technical direction across multiple product initiatives and influence long-term product strategy.
Mentor other data scientists and market modelers while raising the technical bar across the organization.
Stay current with evolving electricity markets, optimization techniques, and forecasting methodologies.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone with deep expertise in wholesale electricity markets who enjoys combining mathematical modeling, software development, and product innovation.
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
Extensive experience developing or applying models for nodal wholesale electricity markets.
Strong understanding of market-clearing algorithms, security-constrained unit commitment (SCUC), economic dispatch (SCED), and transmission constraints.
Experience with mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) and large-scale optimization.
Strong proficiency in Python with a commitment to writing clean, production-grade code and adhering to best coding practices.
Familiarity with Kubernetes for container orchestration, API development/integration, and modern data engineering practices.
Ability to bridge the gap between electrical engineering principles and high-quality software development.
Ability to work across product, engineering, and commercial teams to translate complex market concepts into software products.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain sophisticated technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred
Master's or PhD focused on power systems, operations research, optimization, or related fields.
Experience developing or operating a Market Management System (MMS).
Experience with AC/DC power flow modeling.
Experience building commercial software products for ISO/RTO markets or power trading organizations.
Experience mentoring technical teams or leading complex product initiatives.
Why This Role Matters
This role sits at the intersection of electricity markets, mathematical optimization, and software engineering.
You'll help define the future of one of Enverus' flagship power market platforms while working alongside engineers, product managers, and industry experts to deliver software that directly influences decisions across the global energy market.
