Monitor a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness to maintain a safe and orderly environment. Responsibilities include screening visitors, managing conflict, documenting incidents, and providing emergency first aid assistance.
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with CPR and NYC Fire Safety Guard certifications or the ability to obtain them. Experience working with homeless populations and basic computer literacy are preferred.
You will assist in monitoring this residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a focus on maintaining a safe environment. Be part of a team with a commitment to engaging individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner while performing rounds and addressing the varied needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. You will manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust while understanding each person's unique experience. You will also be responsible for screening residents and visitors at front door, create written documentation, including logbook entries, incident reports and progress notes. Manage inventory for supplies, maintain fire safety drills and logs, and provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed. Assist with inspections and audits. Escort clients and serve meals as needed. Help maintain an orderly and clean facility. Related duties as assigned. This position is subject to mandatory overtime.

The Way Home for New Yorkers Experiencing Homelessness
BRC is one of New York City's largest providers of housing and services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Founded in 1971 by a group of recovering alcoholics living in poverty in the Bowery’s infamous flophouses, these individuals had hope, and a firm belief that better days lay ahead. BRC serves nearly 13,000 individuals each year, operating more than 30 programs throughout the greater metropolitan area. The organization’s robust continuum of housing and services includes over 3,700 units of transitional and permanent housing; outreach and case management programs; and substance use and medical services. Together, these programs offer a caring and effective path from homelessness to home, providing comprehensive services that guide everyone on their unique journey.
