Full job description
We're the communications and marketing agency built for challengers, disruptors and visionaries. We help brands change the way people live, work or play around the world.
Join an agency awarded for its culture and work with innovative brands shaping the future!
Sling & Stone is the public relations agency built for entrepreneurs, challengers and disruptors. We unearth, craft and share the stories of the most ambitious brands shaping the world — from Krispy Kreme to Reddit, Stripe to Google Cloud, to Levi’s and more.
Globally, we’re a team of 60+ Slingers across Australia, Singapore and New Zealand.
We’re now searching for an Account Director, Social & Content to join our Australian team who has an interest in working with brands that are pushing boundaries.
The role you'll play
As the Account Director, Social & Content, you will act as the operational and strategic lead of our growing Social & Content department. You will bridge the gap between PR and cutting-edge social storytelling, driving high-level strategy for our clients while shaping the internal culture and capabilities of the team. This role requires a blend of creative vision, sharp client-handling skills, and a passion for mentoring a dedicated team consisting of a Social Media Manager and a Social Media Executive.
As a Social Account Director you’ll provide high quality strategic guidance in the development and execution of innovative social media strategies. You will play a key role in the strategy and execution of campaigns in the Social and Content portfolio. Your role will require you to stay up to date on industry trends and relevant creators, aligning overall campaign direction with client goals. You’ll understand how to achieve and measure these goals across awareness, engagement, and conversions.
This role will require you to manage and build strong relationships with clients, creators, and stakeholders. You will be able to guide both teams and clients with clear direction, mentoring and upskilling your team to deliver the best results. You understand how to keep a campaign progressing in the day-to-day, but are forward thinking, keeping an eye on the weeks and months ahead.
In return, you’ll be working with some of the most exciting and innovative brands who are truly disrupting traditional industries, have purpose-driven missions, and are looking to shake things up.
Key roles & responsibilities:
Leadership:
Capability Evolution: Partner with agency leadership to define the vision, service offerings, and growth strategy for Social & Content.
Process & Best Practices: Establish and optimise internal workflows, tools (e.g., scheduling, listening, AI tools), and quality control standards.
Line Management: Directly manage, mentor, and inspire the Social Media Manager and Social Media Executive, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Industry Thought Leadership: Keep the agency and clients ahead of the curve on emerging platforms, algorithm shifts, creator economy trends, and digital innovations.
Commercial Acumen: Manage the profitability of social accounts, tracking hours, scope creep, and profitability.
Strategic Client Management
Senior Counsel: Serve as the trusted, senior advisor to key clients, steering their overarching social media and content marketing strategies.
Campaign Architecture: Oversee the development of holistic, multi-channel content strategies, paid social frameworks, and creator marketing programs.
Expansion & Organic Growth: Proactively identify opportunities to infuse social and content services to existing PR clients.
Campaign Excellence
Social Media Strategy: Define the foundational digital presence for clients by developing tailored platform playbooks, content pillars, and native tones of voice, while establishing advanced KPI models that connect social outcomes directly to PR and business growth.
Influencer & Creator Strategy: Guide the team on high-tier influencer negotiations, contract management, and relationship building.
Paid Social: Architect integrated paid social strategies designed to amplify content, drive targeted traffic, or boost content to a broader, curated audience. Ensure paid social budgets are strategically allocated and optimised.
Audits & Trend Forecasting: Conduct deep-dive social audits and competitor analyses alongside macro digital trend forecasting to uncover strategic opportunities and ensure client strategies remain future-proof and culturally resonant.
To be successful in securing this role, you will need to:
7+ years of social and content experience across both business and consumer brands, ideally in an agency
Integrated work where you’ve overseen or directly executed not only influencer/creator, social, and content, but also PR is a plus.
Experience leading and overseeing integrated Social & Content teams. From setting strategies, to managing budgets, providing strategic counsel to clients, and assessing outcomes
Have proven team leadership, people management, and mentor skills
Experience in managing accounts and client needs on a day-to-day basis
Be capable of driving strategy, have strong critical thinking skills, and a sense of creativity, ensuring satisfaction across your client portfolio
Be able to develop scopes of work and budgets, manage service levels with meeting deliverables, while keeping teams engaged and motivated
