About Camden
Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today and we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.
What You’ll Be Doing / How You’ll Be Involved
As a Principal Democratic Services Officer (Job Share), you will play a key role in supporting Camden’s democratic processes, helping to ensure that decision-making is transparent, lawful and effective. You will take responsibility for servicing a portfolio of formal Council bodies, including scrutiny committees and regulatory panels, providing authoritative procedural and constitutional advice to elected Members and senior officers. Through high-quality agenda planning, clear and accurate minutes, and trusted professional guidance, you will enable Members to carry out their roles confidently and in the interests of Camden’s residents. You will also support continuous improvement across Democratic Services, promoting high standards, collaboration and innovation in how we deliver governance support in a modern, hybrid working environment.
This role involves attendance at evening meetings and is based at Camden Town Hall, Judd Street, with hybrid working arrangements in line with service requirements.
All About You
You will bring experience of servicing formal local authority committees and a strong understanding of local government law, governance and committee procedures. You are confident providing clear, impartial and practical constitutional advice within a political environment, and you build constructive relationships with Members, senior officers and colleagues across the organisation.
You have excellent written skills and can produce accurate minutes and formal documentation under pressure, while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines. You are digitally confident, with experience of committee management systems, virtual meeting platforms and webcasting technology, and you are motivated to contribute to service improvement and high standards of democratic accountability.
