Anonymised Application – in keeping with Camden’s commitment to inclusion the recruitment to this role is anonymised and supports the objective of reducing the impact of unconscious bias.
About Camden At London Borough of Camden, we’re building somewhere everyone can thrive. We want Camden to be a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed and where our communities feel proud of the spaces they live, work and visit.
About the role As an assistant Basketball Coach, you'll play a key role in inspiring children and young people to get active, develop their skills and build confidence through sport. Working as part of Camden's Sport and Physical Activity Team, you'll deliver fun, inclusive and engaging basketball coaching sessions that encourage young people to develop a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.
You'll help to plan and deliver high-quality coaching sessions for children and young people, creating a safe, welcoming and positive environment where participants can develop their basketball skills, teamwork and confidence. You'll support a range of community sport programmes, maintain accurate participant records and work collaboratively with schools, community organisations and colleagues to provide excellent sporting opportunities across Camden. You'll also contribute to wider team activities, training and events across the service.
About you To be successful in this role you will have a recognised basketball coaching qualification (or equivalent) and experience of coaching children and young people. You'll be passionate about using sport to positively influence young people's lives and committed to delivering enjoyable and inclusive coaching sessions.
You'll be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and high professional standards. You'll be confident working with children, parents, teachers and partner organisations, and you'll act as a positive role model who motivates and supports young people to reach their potential. A willingness to continue developing your coaching skills and contribute to the wider Sport and Physical Activity Team will help you thrive in this role.
